The Chapter welcomed speaker Autumn DeCosta who discussed her career, life coaching processes and coaching outcomes. Garden City (Vocus/PRWEB) April 10, 2011 Sharon opened the meetings by welcoming everyone, then briefly speaking about the NAPW. She spoke about the upcoming convention, which has been changed to April 29th.Sharon reminded everyone that uses a Flip video camera for everyone's introduction to assist in accurate minutes and also for videos that can be posted on the new Facebook page. Marissa Eldreth is the owner of BizWiz Marketing and Consulting Solutions, but also shared some exciting news. She has now launched her new magazine called "City Connect International". She can help with IRS and Franchise Tax Board issues and says that the Franchise Tax Board is actually more complicated. Sheryl Wilson, Sharon Darrow's daughter, attended for the first time. For the past ten years she has had the best job in the world as the mother of twin boys. During that time the boys, diagnosed as autistic, went from not talking, head banging till they bled, etc., to being fully integrated in regular school and participating in scouts, soccer, football, and baseball. She had to give up her career to devote her life to the kids, but it's the best payoff. Sheryl is on the board for several of the sports teams and involved as a safety officer and fundraiser, having fun and getting lots of new experiences. Now she is looking forward to rejoining the work force. Sharon Darrow is the owner of Travel ID Cards and your source for ID cards for your business, your company, your organization or your sports team, with or without photos. She was wearing the Photo ID card she produces for NAPW members. She said that a great aid for networking events is for her to scan your business card and turn it into a plastic badge that can be worn to events, providing both your identity and helping with brand identification. Sharon said that the company core cards are special cards for travel, –KidsTravelCard, TeenTravelCard, AdultInfoCard, and PetTravelCard. Our speaker for the month, Autumn DeCosta, is a woman's empowerment coach. She started her career a couple of years ago when she was promoted to an officer and she got married to someone who had teenagers. The resultant blended family was a major challenge because she and her new husband had totally different parenting styles. In order to help her cope she hired her first life coach and totally fell in love with the process. She became a coach herself, and explained the coaching process as helping women look at their life, determine where they want to be in the future and create a path to get there in a way that works for them. In addition to talking about what a life coach does, she led everyone through some beautiful, peaceful meditations that helped with grounding and providing a serene base for moving forward. The February meetings clearly left everyone feeling great and very connected with each other, since the individual conversations carried on till the restaurant staff started clearing the room! The sculpture of Roger stands 12 feet tall from his feet to the top of the extended hockey stick. It weighs approximately 750 pounds. The sculpture depicts Neilson waving a towel at the end of a hockey stick. It captures the moment during a 1982 playoff game against the Chicago Blackhawks, when Neilson felt the Canucks were continually and unfairly penalized during the third period. He took a trainer's white towel and held it on a hockey stick, as if to wave a white flag. By doing this, Neilson inadvertently started an NHL tradition. It is a playoff tradition that continues to this day and is widely copied by other sports teams around the world. Norm was one of several sculptors initially considered for the project. He knew his competition would be steep, so he had to find a way to stand out beyond the quality of his work. He focused on the fact that he was a local boy with a deep passion for hockey, and made the case that such a piece would require someone with a lot of hockey knowledge. "My edge was my understanding of hockey. Serious hockey fans care about the details. If something about the subject's expression or movement doesn't ring true, then they are not going to like it." 67-year-old Williams is a Canucks fan of long-standing and began following the team before they entered the NHL. "You would be surprised at how little good photography there is of Neilson from the early 1980s. There are either posed photos where he's looking straight at the camera and smiling, or action shots that are quite grainy," explains Norm. "In 1982 I was watching that game of course, and I remember the moment when he waved the towel and how he looked. His facial expression was one of exasperated defiance. Really it was a polite middle finger to the officials, and they took it that way by ejecting him from the game." He began work on the sculpture in July 2010 and completed the plaster version of it at the beginning of January 2011. At that point it was shipped to the IN BRONZE foundry in Langley, BC where it was cast in bronze. Norm studied under well know sculptors Bill Reid, Bill Koochin and Leonard Epp. The focus of Norm's sculpture is realism that portrays nature or historical events. Norm's studio is in a barn on his Abbotsford property. In the video, Mads Koefoed, macro strategist at Saxo Bank discusses these issues. Firstly, Mads discusses the comments made by the ECB president after the interest rate was raised. The ECB had originally stated that there would be another four further interest hikes this year, but in his comments after the 25 basis points hike, the president said that people should not except this hike to be one of a series of hikes. Mads believes that four more hikes would not be the best idea, as the economy is not that strong, and it is only really the German economy that is supporting the Eurozone. Mads predicts another hike will be announced around June or July 2011 as inflation trends higher, but it is not yet at a level where the ECB will have to raise rates every time they meet. Next Mads discusses the recent bailout of Portugal. The bailout has been expected for a while, and while there are no official figures as yet, it looks as though Portugal could be asking for around 80 billion Euros, which is about the same amount as Ireland received. Mads comments that the ECP is sending a strong signal that it didn't seem to care about Portugal as it raised interest rate even though it was evident that Portugal was going to require bailout. The ECP's main focus is inflation, and as long as it is only small economies that aren't doing so well in Eurozone, the ECP are unlikely to bother. However, Mads points out that they may start to pay attention if countries like Spain begin to suffer.
