Coregeek has created a DIY iPad 2 Duct Tape Folio Smart Case that doesn’t look half bad. When he learned the iPad 2 utilized magnets for the Smart Cover, he decided to redesign and refine his original Duct Tape Folio. With a new design goal and a little work, Coregeek revised his original design and incorporated several new features. The new iPad 2 Duct Tape Folio Smart Case offers an integrated sleep/wake function, an easy magnetic insert and removal, a built in prop/stand, a durable plywood core, a stylish magnetic clasp and a full front and back case. Vogel’s RingO – Universal iPad Mounting System Review Posted: 10 Apr 2011 10:43 AM PDT There are multiple scenarios in which you can use your iPad and iPad 2 in your daily life. You can stow it on a wall to use as a home media control system, mount it in your car to entertain the family, display in your kitchen to view recipes and listen to music, or simply take to your office to display office presentations and share your work with colleagues. In this review, we take a closer look at the RingO Universal iPad Mounting System, which will keep your iPad safe by securely mounting it everywhere you go. The Vogel's Universal Kit is a unique system for mounting your tablet on walls, in cars, on tables and desks. The company is betting on its proven experience in secure mounting systems to safely mount your iPad wherever you go. After trying the mounting system kit, I have to say the iPad fits quite nicely and is safely secured. The different accessories were sent to us in a very secured package that includes the wall mount, car mount, table stand and the RingO system holder, which is the heart of the mounting system. The system holder is a precision ring shaped aluminum connector that allows you to mount the iPad onto a range of different support components. All you have to do is clip the holder to your iPad and you can easily mount it onto the wall mount, the table stand and the car mount. The iPad HolderAs mentioned earlier, the Holder is the heart of the RingO mounting system. It protects your iPad as a snap-on case, and also comes with a precision aluminum connector on the back that enables the iPad to be easily mounted onto different components. The case snaps onto the iPad quite easily. It protects the back of your iPad and most of the sides, while allowing easy access to all iPad controls. When mounted onto the other components (Wall Mount, Car Mount, Table Stand) the iPad does feel secured. The Wall MountVogel’s has included a stylish button that can be screwed onto almost any surface. This button gets used to mount the Vogel's Holder onto the Wall Mount. To mount the iPad on your wall is simple. Simply click the Holder onto the Wall Mount, so it hangs safely in place. It becomes handy when viewing videos, showing photos, or working on recipes around the kitchen. I liked that you can freely rotate the iPad 360 degrees. The locking system certainly ensures stable and secure support. To unmount the iPad is easy. All you have to do is press the two buttons included on the Wall Mount and the Holder will come off. The Car MountIf you have kids, or like to have flexibility to entertain the family while on the road, the Car Mount fits the bill. You don’t need any tools to install. Vogel’s Car Mount allows you to securely fix the iPad Holder to the front seat headrest. All you have to do is click the iPad Holder into place. You can rotate the iPad 360 degrees, which is a nice feature. The Table StandThe included stand fits nicely onto the iPad Holder. It is another component that allows you to use the iPad in either portrait or landscape. A few ideas – you can use the iPad on a table, bookshelf or desk, for viewing your favorite photos, movies or TV shows. What I liked: The RingO system certainly brings a lot of flexibility when using the iPad. Vogel’s is a well known company for its designs for Audio and TV mounting systems. They have certainly brought a quality universal mounting system for the iPad. The iPad Holder certainly protects the back of your iPad and snaps on quite easily. The mounting system works quite well across all included components. What I didn’t like: While the iPad Holder protects the back of your iPad, a few sides remain a bit exposed. Would like to see the case cover a bit more a few sides for full protection. To buy or not to buy: Overall, Vogel's system is robust and quite simple to use. All components feature a very stylish design. If you’re looking for an iPad mounting system that brings flexibility and protects your iPad, the RingO Universal Mounting System is a great buy. Vogel’s is offering different packs for the first generation iPad and the iPad 2. They are selling a Starter Pack for $69.99 (iPad Holder, Wall Mount); a Home Pack for $79.99 (iPad Holder, Wall Mount, Table Stand); a Car Pack for $99.99 (iPad Holder, Tablet Stand, Car Mount); and a All-in-One Pack for $119.99 (iPad Holder, Wall Mount, Tablet Stand, Car Mount).
