Easter Egg Design Ideas: Best iPhone App for 2011

It’s that time of year again, as Easter 2011 is now upon us. Whether you’re planning a short trip somewhere or just planning to eat as many chocolate easter eggs as you can, it’s always an enjoyable period for everyone. We now have some great Easter egg design ideas to show you now in the form of some very handy iPhone applications.

Designing your very own easter eggs is often one of the most popular activities for children and a perfect way to bring the family together each year. You may not realise it, but some great tips are available straight from your pocket on the iPhone.

One such app we’ve picked out is called Easter Egg Painter and you’ll be pleased to know that this is a free download from the app store. Rather than just list basic design ideas, it lets you design easter eggs yourself using a virtual paintbrush and a choice of different styles and colors. By using this app to design an easter egg on your iPhone, you could then copy the ideas on a real egg in front of you so you can have the very same outcome – making this app very useful as a failsafe plan.

There are other design apps available, but we found that there’s mostly a fee to download them, so this one is by far the best option for you. If you have download an Easter Egg related app on your phone, let us know what it is.

Prey 2 Campaign length Revealed by Human Head Studios

We have news from Eurogamer that reveals a statement from Human Head Studios regarding the length of time it will take the gamer to complete Prey 2, campaign lengths these days are criticized by many, therefore this news could be very important for many.

The folks at Human Head Studios say that it should take on average 15 hours to play your way through and complete the main storyline to Prey 2, however they also say that it will take more time to complete the game if you choose to do all the side missions and explore the environment.

“We’re targeting, for the average player, at least around 15 hours to play through. But because there are so many open world activities you can do when you explore around and find different things, it’s hard to put an upper cap on it.” says project lead Chris Reinhart.

This is the average time that has been set, however we are sure that the Achievement / Trophy hunters among you could easily double this time trying to complete the game 100%. We have not yet heard much about Prey 2′s multiplayer offerings therefore we will have to keep you posted. Do you think a 15 hour campaign is long enough?

PSN down in some regions, are you affected?

We have had some of our readers contacting us and saying they cannot access the PlayStation Network, and it seems that it is down in some regions around the world.

According to the EU PlayStation blog a message has been posted via twitter which says "PSN is currently down for maintenance. We’ll update you with timeframes as soon as we can." At the time of writing we think the problem is affecting the United States and Europe.

The official line is planned maintenance but could have Anonymous restarted their campaign against Sony? The group did say before they would stop hitting gamers with attacks on the PlayStation Network, but could have changed their tactics.

But it could be because Sony is strengthening security for the service due to previous attacks by Anonymous. Normally when Sony plan to work on the PSN service they give advanced warning, so it could be a round f fresh attacks.

Is the service down in your area? Let us know in the comments section below.

HTC Sensation Release Date Could Be June 8

HTC have had some success of late as they continue to bring out an array of different smartphones. We recently told you that the much talked about HTC Pyramid was in fact to be called the Sensation. Today we have what might be the HTC Sensation release date.

Earlier this month the handset was announced in London by HTC, but as they remained tight lipped about a release date. David over at TmoNews is reporting that an HTC sponsored ad on Google shows the handset coming on June 8.

Now this is not the first time an ad has appeared on the internet for a phone, so it may mean nothing. Also if you look at the press renderings that were released by the company, on the display of the handset it also shows the date Wednesday June 8th.

It is not known if this date is correct, and if the date is for a European release or for T-Mobile in the United States. Hopefully as the date does get closer we might find out more solid launch date information, and we have already told those of you who live in the UK that you can register with Vodafone for updates on the handset.

The iPhone Tracker: Apple are still watching, Consumers Still Unaware

The iPhone Tracker: Apple are still watching, Consumers Still Unaware

In most people eyes, the iPhone is an indispensible item that most consumers cannot live without on a daily basis now, but how many of you are aware that Apple still holds a hidden secret inside the device which exposes all of your travel data without you knowing about it?

Although not a completely new issue, it has been discovered that the iPhone secretly tracks all of your location data and stores it on the device inside a few encrypted files that can be viewed on a computer whenever a user backs up his or her data.

This worrying issue has been analysed by Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden who are security researchers. To show the effects of this location tracking in detail, they created an app called ‘iPhone Tracker’ which will let you see just how Apple stores this information on your device and it lets you see just what you’ve been up to on your iPhone travels.

This is obviously a big privacy problem, as we’re guessing the average iPhone user has no idea that your location data is being stored secretly on the device. It’s probably located somewhere in the smallest fine print on Apple’s iOS documents, but thankfully this iPhone Tracker App has made things a lot more public.

How many of you were already aware of the iPhone’s secret tracking abilities? You can find out a lot more about this over at Digital Life, you can also watch some sample videos on the iPhone Tracker website here.

Inspirational Facebook Stories: When Social Media Shines

As most of you will probably now realise, online social networking website Facebook has become a lot more than just a place to chat and view what your friends are up to on a daily basis. Facebook has also become a very effective tool for locating lost loved ones or using the website to gather important information, which is why we now have a list of some of the most inspirational Facebook stories so far.

One such story actually saved somebody’s life, and it was all down to Facebook. That story belongs to Jeff Kurze as his wife took to the Facebook website to search for a kidney donor after being told by doctors he would have to wait around five years to get one. Thanks to Facebook, a user by the name of Ricky Cisco replied to his wife and successfully offered him a transplant and the rest is history.

Facebook is also a great tool for reuniting people back together, and countless inspirational stories involve individuals who have used Facebook to find family members who they havent seen for a long time, in some cases never before! One example is Ethel Frederickson who was kidnapped and separated from her family at a young age. After 40 years of not knowing who her family were, she located her birth certificate with the names of her real parents, and then used Facebook to find out where they were. Luckily for her, the search did the trick and they were reunited soon after.

There are many more inspirational Facebook stories that you can read over at TheRandomForest. If you have a story to share with us, leave us a comment below as we’d love to hear if you used Facebook in a similar experience.

Apple report massive earnings and record iPhone sales

Apple report massive earnings and record iPhone sales

Despite concerns over supply issues, Apple have reported some impressive results for their second fiscal quarter. These included records sales of the iPhone which was helped by the Verizon iPhone 4 release.

Julianne Pepitone over at CNNMoney.com is reporting that the results posted by Apple easily beat Wall Street predictions. Apple reported earnings of $5.99 billion, or $6.40 per share, on revenue of $24.67 billion. Analysts had previously estimated Apple would return earnings of $5.37 on sales of $23.38 billion.

Overall sales climbed 83% over the same time a year ago, and profits almost doubled. Apple sold 4.69 million iPads during the quarter, but was less than the predicted 6.3 million. In the previous quarter which included the holiday season the company sold 7.3 million iPads.

The big news concerns the iPhone, which sold a record 18.65 million units during the quarter, up by 113% over last year. The sales of Macs were also up 32% from last year at 3.76 million. Sales of iPods continue to slow though, Apple still sold 9 million of the devices but that's down 17% from last year.

The figures from Apple are pretty impressive, and may have been even better if they could have kept up with demand for the new iPad. What do you think about Apple's sales figures?

Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date Delay, Due to CES Feedback

Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date Delay, Due to CES Feedback

In a previous post we bought you news about the Motorola Droid Bionic, which had its release date held back. Now we can reveal that the reason for the delay appears to be because of the feedback received at CES.

SlashGear say that the delay will allow Motorola to make enhancements to the device as a result of the feedback that was given at CES, which makes us think that the Droid Bionic was not up to standard when experts got their hands on it.

A Motorola spokesperson said "Based on compelling feedback since [CES], we are incorporating several enhancements to make this an even better consumer experience." We do not know whether the Consumer Electronics Show found faults in the phone or whether they suggested that it needed more refinements, however the problems must have been pretty substantial to cause such a delay.

At the moment there is no word of when the device will be released and also no way of knowing what Motorola intend to add to it in order to make it a ‘better consumer experience’, however it has to be said that in the long run the frustrating delay is better than Motorola releasing a sub-standard smartphone.

Will you wait for the Motorola Droid Bionic?

Minecraft Demo Available, Download It Now

News in that prospective Minecraft players can now trial the game without having to pay up front thanks to the release of the Minecraft Demo that is available for download now. Because of the demo, people can now try the game to see what all the fuss is about.

The demo will grant you five days of in-game playing time (90 minutes) and when this runs out, you will be asked to buy the full game. The idea of a demo could be very beneficial to the already successful developers because people will now be drawn to the game and hopefully become hooked during the trial period.

I tried it for myself with no previous knowledge of the game or its aim and to be honest, I instantly saw why people were so addicted to it, not because it was so good, but because it takes a long while to understand what you have to do and also to acquire objects to use.

That being said, a demo is very beneficial for both gamers and developers and should see the game’s sales build up as people introduce themselves to the game like I have. What do you think of Minecraft as a game and are you going to trial the new demo version?
