T-Mobile myTouch 4G slated to see Gingerbread before the end of June? Posted: HTC ThunderBolt, T-Mobile G2, DROID Incredible, and HTC EVO 4G. What do all of these devices have in common, besides the fact that they're made by HTC? They're all rumored to be getting an update to Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread, sometime before the end of June. Today we can add another device to that list, as our friends at TmoNews have been handed a screenshot purportedly showing an HTC representative revealing that the myTouch 4G will be updated to Gingerbread in Q2. There's no mention of...
Should more phones have solar panels on their battery doors? Posted: The push for a greener world didn't end with the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright. Whether it be solar panels bolted on the top of a building, a strong push for recycling, or positioning a skyscraper in such a way that it's naturally heated/cooled and there is little need for artificial lighting, companies around the world have all tried their hand at going green. Of those companies, Sprint has always been a big proponent of saving the planet. Within every cell phone box, you will find a...
Samsung Galaxy Prevail FIrst Impressions by Sydney Posted: Boost Mobile customers, rejoice! After the long wait, Boost Mobile has finally released a new Android smartphone that is worthy of your attention. Not to knock on the Motorola i1 , but a 3G CDMA Android phone with 2.2 easily beats out an iDEN phone that ships with Android 1.5. The Samsung Galaxy Prevail may not be the creme of the crop for smartphones, but it promises to deliver mid-range performance for those on a budget. The Prevail is available on Boost Mobile's $50 Monthly Unlimited...
Sprint CEO says that AT&T/T-Mobile merger poses a threat to the wireless industry Posted: Sprint has already made it very clear that it's opposed to AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile, but today Dan Hesse took a few moments out of his announcement of the Samsung Replenish to touch on the deal a bit more. Hesse said that he believes that the AT&T-Mobile deal poses a "serious threat" to the industry and that, if approved, will eliminate competition from the market and turn it into a duopoly. "If AT&T is allowed to swallow T-Mobile," the CEO said, "competition will be stifled, growth will...
We don't need no stinking tablets! Posted: Tablets, tablets , everywhere! You just can’t avoid the barrage of announcements about tablets these days. From the iPad, iPad 2, XOOM, Galaxy Tab, PlayBook and TouchPad there is no hiding from the marketing machine telling us we NEED a tablet. Certainly, if we don’t get a tablet there is no way we can continue to live life to it’s fullest, or even tie our shoes! This year is going to be the year of the tablet. Now, I know we probably all said...

Samsung Replenish arriving on Sprint's shelves on May 8th for $49.99 Posted: After starring in a handful of leaks, with the most recent coming just last night, the Samsung Replenish for Sprint was finally made official today. Sprint says that the Replenish is the "first eco-friendly Android smartphone" with 34.6 percent recycled plastic casing. Overall, 82 percent of the device is made from recyclable materials, and the recyclable packaging is made up of 80 percent post-consumer waste material and soy inks. Additionally, the Replenish and charger are both energy...
Is smartphone pricing on a steady rise? Posted: I can remember back to when I was just a young lad and my mother would frequent the carrier store in hopes of getting a new phone. At the time, there were no smartphones (commercially available), only what are now considered archaic flip phones, and for those daring enough to tread uncharted ground, sliders and camera phones. The more interesting part are prices of the olden days. Of course, I was very young (9-10 years), but I do remember with a considerable amount of accuracy that...
AT&T, T-Mobile to begin submitting paperwork to FCC around April 21st Posted: AT&T announced that they plan to acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion on March 20th and, just over one month later, both companies will begin filing all of the paperwork necessary to help get the deal rolling. In an emailed statement, AT&T's Michael Balmoris said that they "plan to file [their] public interest statement at the FCC around April 21." Along with the FCC review, the AT&T-Mobile deal will be reviewed by the Justice Department to determine whether or not it violates...
Samsung DROID Charge employee training gets underway as more pricing info leaks Posted: The Samsung DROID Charge certainly looks like it's getting close, but if you needed more evidence that it could be launching sometime in the next week or two, we're happy to oblige. First up, the folks at Droid-Life have learned that employee training for the Charge is kicked off today, and the preparation has revealed an interesting tidbit about the device's mobile hotspot capabilities. When Sammy's DROID ends up launching, it's rumored that it'll be able to support up to 10 devices at once...
HTC Mazaa leaks, ready to rock Sprint sometime in the near future? Posted: Sprint's first Windows Phone 7 offering, the HTC Arrive, launched less than a month ago, but a new leak has shown that they may be gearing up to launch another WP7 device in the near future. The device in the non-blurry(!) images you see above is allegedly codenamed the HTC Mazaa, which the source of the photos says could be heading to the Now Network sometime in the next six months. Interestingly, the Mazaa is said to be sporting an IMEI number on the phone itself, suggesting that it could...

Posted: Two screens with a bunch of possibilities! Aaron takes a first look at the Kyocera Echo , the first Android phone with two displays for maximum viewing. It has a 1 GHz processor, dual 3.5-inch displays, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, and Android 2.2. Lock the displays together, and you have a mini tablet computer. It's a unique concept, but is it going to take off with Sprint customers, given its lack of 4G?
