The technology inside our pocket computers has undergone some major improvements; displays have increased in size and clarity, cameras are quickly catching up with dedicated point-and-shoot cameras, and radios can now access networks with speeds that exceed those of home Internet connections. But the piece of tech that has undoubtedly gained the most attention from both manufacturers and fanatics alike is that of processor...

Posted:

The Motorola XOOM is already available both in a WiFi-only flavor as well as a version compatible with Verizon's network, with a Sprint-ready model on the way. It doesn't appear that the XOOM's tour of carriers will end there, though, as Moto's slate may be coming to both AT&T and U.S. Cellular in the near future, too. First up, we've got an FCC filing that shows a Motorola-made "wireless tablet" known affectionately as the IHDT56ME1 getting approved for use on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, which...

Why Samsung's plan for 2GHz dual-core processors will work

Posted:

Progress is inevitable, and despite the fact that we’re looking at some of the most advanced smartphones we’ve ever seen already available on the market, with even more coming down the pipe sooner than later, we all know that it’s only going to keep getting better from here. Unfortunately, “better” is a relative term, and while we know our phones will certainly get faster and more powerful, there’s still the question about other features that needs...

Posted:

It seems that just about everyone is putting their two cents in on what the iPhone 5 will look like and when it'll launch, and today we've got a report from Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who, to be fair, has nailed a few of Apple-related predictions in the past. Kuo is claiming that, according to his supply chain sources, the next-gen iPhone will retain largely the same design as the iPhone 4 but will feature some updated internals, including the same A5 processor that powers the iPad...

Can Android and iOS take down the mobile gaming giants?

Posted:

Just like anything else, video games have changed over the years. As the games themselves advance through the technology used to create them, so do the devices we play them on. No longer just about playing games in the house, we can now enjoy some of our favorite titles right in our hands from our smartphones. No longer do we need a portable game console, like Nintendo’s DS or Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP). We can get the same entertainment right from our phones....
