The Galaxy S 4G is a revision to the Vibrant and offers a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, larger battery, and Android 2.2 with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. | Nexus S is $100 cheaper at Best Buy for a limited time Posted: The Nexus S is one of only two Android phones running Gingerbread — officially, anyway — and received high marks from Aaron "Hairon" Baker in his review of the device. Still, all of that may not have been enough to convince folks to pick up the newest Googlephone. If you're one of those people still on the fence, listen up: Best Buy just kicked off a sale on the Nexus S, offering it for only $99.99 with a two-year commitment. The deal's good through March 23rd. Even at... |
T-Mobile ups the price of its new 10GB webConnect plan Posted: Remember those leaked T-Mobile webConnect plans that we told you about a few days ago? Yeah, those . I've got some news for those of you planning on adding the 10GB option when the plans go live on the 13th, aka this Sunday. Rather than costing $79.99 per month like we originally heard, T-Mo has inexplicably raised the price $5, meaning that you'll now be paying $84.99 per month for all that data, or $67.99 if you pair it with a qualifying voice plan. On another other quick,...
T-Mobile expands its HSPA+ network into five more markets Posted: It seems like it's been a while since we last announced a T-Mobile HSPA+ network expansion, but today five more cities have gotten some 4G lovin' from Magenta. T-Mo just announced that their HSPA+ coverage is now live in Des Moines, Iowa; Gainesville and Panama City, Fla.; Monterey, Calif.; and Savannah, Ga. This latest addition brings T-Mobile's 4G market total up to 157. The full presser is down below. T-Mobile has been adding quite a few more 4G-capable devices as of late, like the ...
HTC ThunderBolt gets another rumored March release date [UPDATED] Posted: The HTC ThunderBolt has had more rumored release dates than we care to keep track of, and today another has been added to the pile. According to two sources speaking to BGR , the TBolt is now set to hit Verizon's shelves on Monday, March 21st. The same date was reportedly spotted on HTC's Facebook page recently. BGR notes that their sources "don’t have proven track records in this case" which, along with the fact that Big Red normally launches devices on Thursdays, means you...
Clearwire sued for alleged data throttling, false advertising [UPDATED] Posted: Earlier today we saw Verizon get involved in a lawsuit, and now Clearwire is a part of a lawsuit of its own. Things are a little different in this case, though, as Clearwire is the one being sued. Fifteen of the company's customers are involved in a suit that alleges that Clearwire throttled WiMAX speeds as low as 256Kbps late last year, even though marketing materials promised that speeds would never drop below 1Mbps, and then charging them ETFs when they dropped the company's services....
iPad to grab up to 80 percent of the 2011 tablet market share, report claims Posted: The Apple iPad managed to dominate the tablet market in 2010, with the only real competitor coming in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Tab near the end of the year. Even then, the iPad held an overwhelming majority of the market share, and the research firm International Data Corporation expects that the iPad will continue its hold through 2011. According to the IDC's numbers, there were 10.1 media tablets shipped in the fourth quarter of 2010, with the iPad making up 73 percent of the market,...
Kyocera Echo makes a pit stop in the FCC on its way to Sprint's shelves Posted: Kyocera's Echo is slated to bring double the displays, and potentially double the fun, of your normal Android handset to Sprint this spring , but it's exact launch date still hasn't been made official. Thanks to the good ol' FCC, though, we now know that the Echo may not be too far off. As you can see above, Kyocera's newest Android phone just got the A-OK from the Federal Communications Commission. There's no launch date to be found, but it certainly seems like we getting close. The...
Verizon files lawsuit over Premium SMS fraud Posted: Verizon has announced that it's filing a lawsuit in Phoenix, Ariz. against Jason Hope and Wayne P. DeStefano and their companies, Cylon, Jawa, and EyeLevel Holdings, for fraud involving Premium SMS services. The carrier alleges that Hope and DeStefano signed up users for a Premium SMS service which didn't meet Verizon's "standards for the disclosure of pricing and subscription information." Additionally, Verizon claims that the defendants either blocked certain IP addresses or redirected them...
Rumor: BlackBerry Dakota, Apollo, and Torch 2 launch windows revealed Posted: Back at the tail end of January, we saw a BlackBerry roadmap leak which purportedly revealed the release windows of upcoming CDMA 'Berrys like the Montana and Monaco. Today it's GSM's time to shine, as the folks at N4BB claim to have gotten their hands on roadmap straight from RIM (or, given the Magenta-colored top, perhaps T-Mobile). First up, though, is the WiFi-only PlayBook, which looks like it should be arriving around late March or early April, lining up with what we've heard in the past....
Windows Phone 7's NoDo update pushed back to later this month [UPDATED] Posted: Microsoft has encountered a few bumps on the road to Windows Phone 7's NoDo update, but last we heard, it was scheduled to finally arrive sometime in the first two weeks of March. However, we're now hearing that the update won't be arriving until later this month. Over at the official Microsoft France blog, the company has stated that NoDo "will be available for the second half of March." Mary Jo Foley has heard from one source that the rollout is now expected to begin sometime during the week...
Microsoft giving Nokia a billion dollar gift basket Posted: In case you hadn’t read this; Microsoft will reportedly be paying Nokia one billion dollars over 5 years to use the Windows Phone OS on its hardware. How does this kind of deal work?! My simple mind doesn’t quite get it. Microsoft is buying the business Since it's in the business of making money you would think Microsoft would pay out...nothing. Rather they should be charging Nokia for the use of their mobile OS. So, why the one billion dollar...

AT&T: HSUPA-capable lineup will expand with future devices, updates to current models Posted: By now, just about everyone is well aware that AT&T's Android handsets, including its 4G phones like the Atrix and Inspire , don't do HSUPA out of the box. It's not that the hardware isn't capable, it's just that ATT doesn't allow to them to achieve high upload speeds because of the way that the phones interact with their network. Ma Bell hasn't really said much on the situation, but in a statement to PCMag , they did hint that things are going to change at some point in the...
Does the white iPhone 4 even matter anymore? Posted: We are now nine months past the launch of the iPhone 4 and the white version that was supposed to come shortly thereafter is still eluding us. Prior to launch, some locations were taking pre-orders for a white iPhone 4. This led many to believe that it was only a matter of time before the white version would magically appear and all would be right in the world. Who would have ever thought that the Verizon iPhone would make a grand appearance before the albino version? There have...
