AT&T's 4G: Fact or fiction?

Posted:

The trials and tribulations of the 4G label have been a widespread debate since its debut, and it looks like AT&T should be ready for their name and reputation to get thrown under the bus. Why? Because the company is touting 4G speeds for two smartphones and one 4G-enabled USB modem that, apparently, don’t actually take advantage of 4G speeds at all. Or come close, for that matter. Tests are showing that 3G-enabled devices are actually faster than the 4G-enabled devices currently...

Some iPhones mishandle daylight savings time change

Posted:

Over the weekend, some iPad 2 owners reported experiencing backlight bleeding issues with their shiny new tablet. The iPad wasn't the only iOS device that had a rough weekend, though, as many iPhones failed to adjust to the daylight savings time switch correctly. Rather than leaping ahead an hour, many iPhones fell back an hour, causing users to be late for work and other activities. There's been no comment on the matter from Apple. This isn't the first time the iPhone's clock has ...

As just about everyone knows by now, Apple released the iPad 2 last Friday and, although there have been some hiccups , sales of the tablet seem to have been pretty strong. One of the features rumored to be coming to Apple's iPhone 5 this summer, besides a bigger display, is near field communication support for mobile payments and remote computing. Now we're hearing that NFC won't make it into an iPhone this year thanks to a "lack of a clear standard across the industry." This news comes from sources at multiple U.K. carriers that claim to have met with Apple in the past. That doesn't mean that the folks in Cupertino aren't working on an iOS NFC solution, though,...
