| iPhone 5 Delay Cause: iOS 5 or 8-megapixel Camera? Posted: 02 Apr 2011 01:47 AM PDT We have discussed a number of reasons over the last few days concerning the iPhone 5 delay and its cause (if there is one at all), but have we considered two other factors? Two other possibilities are an 8-megapixel camera and iOS 5, which could be two new features for Apple's new fifth-generation iPhone. The camera has always been a huge drawback with the iPhone, and it was the iPhone 4 that saw a huge spec bump to 5-megapixel – but is this still enough? When you look at the range of other smartphones on the market most of them now have 8-megapixel and above – so why should the iPhone 5 be any different? There have been rumors rumors that Apple are talking to Sony to supply an 8MP sensor for the next iPhone, and it is this transitions that has caused the delay, and not the disaster in Japan or an LTE Verizon iPhone 5. The report of this spec bump is not a new one, but it is certainly one that could be the cause of the delay. However, we fell that it is iOS 5 and its Cloud features that could be the main cause. It is no secret that Apple wants to launch its Cloud based services in the fall, so what better way to launch it than with the release of the iPhone 5. This could be a very clever thing that Apple could do here, launching the two at the same time will certainly help the two. You may wonder why the iPhone 5 would need any help – well we have all seen the numbers when it comes to Android's mobile OS market share. We could all be wrong and Apple could still launch the iPhone 5 in June, but if they do not – then this is certainly food for thought. | Toyota Wins Verdict Over 12 Million Recalls Posted: 02 Apr 2011 01:16 AM PDT The Toyota wins verdicts would have been a headline that investors for the Japanese automaker would have been pleased to see yesterday, which stems backs to over 12 million recalls due to the accelerator pedals issue back in 2009. Although this is a good day for Toyota, they should not get complacent over the issue as they had to issue yet another recall over the floor mat issue back in February. There is said to be a huge number of cases coming up, so this is just one of them – meaning Toyota has many more hurdles to jump. During this case held in New York Toyota claimed that there had been no evidence to support that the floor mat was the cause of the unintended accelerator issue, and that there could have been other factors, which TorqueNews explains in more detail. A study conducted by the NASA and NHTSA proved that there was no issue with the electronic engine control systems in the affected models, but this did not help answer what was really the cause. It is so easy to speculate what went on, but we have to wonder if we will ever know – although there are those who have their theories. This is certainly an important win for Toyota, and although we said that the automaker still has other cases to fight, this small victory could help to spur on sales once again – nothing is better to them than consumer confidence. We do not know about you, but they could do with all the help that they can get, considering the recent disaster in Japan and their projected profits heading for a huge dip. | Xperia Play or Sony NGP (PSP 2): Consumer Choices Posted: 02 Apr 2011 12:15 AM PDT You may not be aware of this, but we can now confirm that the Sony Xperia Play, also known as the PlayStation Phone, is now available to buy in Europe and Asia. But is it a worthwhile option, with the highly anticipated and more superior Sony NGP, aka the PSP2 on the way later this year. The Xperia Play is the first PlayStation ‘certified’ mobile device in 2011, meaning that users will be able to play official PS1 games, as well as download games and content from Sony’s recently announced PlayStation Suite. The device is also a pretty capable smartphone, with a stunning 4-inch display screen, a customized version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 1Ghz Qualcomm processor, a 5 megapixel rear camera with VGA front camera, 512MB of RAM and 512MB of internal storage, expandable via MicroSD card. But then we have a potential sticking point – it’s price. Unless you are willing to pick this up on contract, you can expect to pay around £450-500 for one – which obviously isn’t cheap. In our opinion that’s a bit too much for a device which is very likely to be overshadowed once the PSP2 is out at the end of the year. Sony are infamous for bringing in their premium starting prices though, so we’re hardly surprised. How many of you are still planning to pick up the Xperia Play, knowing that the NGP with better specs, and 3G support which everyone keeps forgetting about, is on the way soon. If you ask us, we’d tell you that you are probably worth waiting a few months for at least a price drop. | HTC Flyer: Android 2.3 Gingerbread Release Date Update Posted: 01 Apr 2011 10:12 PM PDT We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the HTC Flyer tablet later on this year, as HTC has once again confirmed that the device will be receiving an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread after release – we have an update on that for you. When asked a direct question on Twitter if the Flyer would be getting the Honeycomb update or not, HTC replied with the following answer, as reported from Engadget: ”We will be offering a Honeycomb upgrade when it's made available. What feature are you most excited about?” Obviously, it would have been better if they gave us an actual indication when the update will be coming out, but at least it puts potential Flyer owner’s minds at ease knowing that the device which ships with Froyo will be upgraded soon after release. It will be pretty disasterous if they don’t get Honeycomb out during Summer at least, so we’re predicting that you won’t have to wait to long for it. Who is planning to get a Flyer or EVO View 4G (Sprint’s version) from HTC? Are you concerned that it ‘only’ comes with a single-core 1.5Ghz processor, unlike the rest of the tablet competition which ships with a 1Ghz dual core processor at least? | Forza 4′s Unmatched Graphics on Xbox 360 – Can Gran Turismo 5 Compete Posted: 01 Apr 2011 09:17 PM PDT April Fools Day 2011 is well and truly behind us now, but there’s certainly no joke about this huge leak. A new video for Forza 4 has surfaced online, and it is definitely the biggest reveal yet, showing new gameplay, confirming new Kinect features and much more – don’t miss this. Since this video surfaced at the start of the day, there were some questions as to whether this was a well made April Fools Day prank, but that certainly got put to bed, when we realised that Microsoft has started to take down these videos from YouTube with a copyright notice. Obviously, this video isn’t intended for public viewing yet, actually it wouldn’t surprise us if this was something they were planning to show at E3. Anyway, the video shows the breathtaking new graphics for Forza 4, graphics which are certainly going to make Sony and Polyphony Digital take notice. The video makes a point to remind that this is actual in-game footage of Forza 4 that you’re seeing, which makes it all the more stunning in our opinion. Microsoft claims to have ‘unmatched graphics’ with Forza 4, and reveal that the game will feature image-based lighting and photo realistic models, with one confirmed Kinect feature allowing you to open vehicle doors using your hands – a tad on the gimmick side, but we like it nevertheless. More than 80 car manufacturers will be featured in Forza 4, with Microsoft claming that this is the biggest number seen in the racing genre to date. Another massive reveal, is that Forza 4 will feature 16 player races, which is twice the amount seen in Forza 3, that’s pretty impressive when you think about it. We’ll add the video below, but don’t be surprised if it gets removed since Microsoft are on the warpath. | Battlefield 3 Release Date and Possible Modern Warfare 3 Firing Line Posted: 01 Apr 2011 07:46 PM PDT We have some major news for gaming fans around the world now, as it looks like the Battlefield 3 release date has been revealed, and it doesn’t look like an April Fools joke either. The most interesting part of the date, is that it falls in the midst of Modern Warfare territory. We knew that both games are going to go head to head with each other when they release, and this seems to have just confirmed things. If you head over to CVG, you’ll see that they have included a screenshot taken from the French version of EA’s Download Manager, which reveals that Battlefield 3 will be out on November 2nd! Obviously, this hasn’t been confirmed by EA, but it does look promising. We knew that the game would be out in November anyway, so this potential date of November 2nd is not too surprising. However, we don’t know when Modern Warfare 3 will be out yet. Black Ops released on November 9th 2010, so if MW3 releases around the same time, which it’s pretty likely this will happen – things are going to get very interesting indeed. Just so you’re aware, November 2nd is a Wednesday, which could also suggest that this date is going to be a worldwide release, which again you could have guessed considering the sheer scale of the title. | Homefront Patch hits Xbox Live, Details Coming Tomorrow Posted: 01 Apr 2011 08:42 AM PDT Last week we told you how a patch was on its way to Xbox Live to fix the Homefront freezing problem, now we can confirm that a patch has gone live which fixes this issue amongst others. This news was revealed on the official Homefront website, the announcement is quite brief and vague, however it does confirm that more information regarding the patch will be published tomorrow. The statement does confirm that along with the profile freeze issues, developers have worked on a lot of improvements “under the hood”, also Kaas Studios has confirmed that they are working on DLC for the game, that said they stay very quiet about it. We must admit we like the fact that Kaos Studios admit that the game is not perfect and that they thank Homefront players for their patience, obviously it would be better if the game was better upon release, but at least the developers are acknowledging the problems which gamers are reporting We would love to hear from you if you have downloaded and installed the patch, if so have you noticed any changes? | Xperia Play List of Games, 60 Confirmed for Launch Day Posted: 01 Apr 2011 08:12 AM PDT Roughly two weeks ago we asked you which games you would like to see released for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, now we have a list of 60 games which will be available on the smartphone’s release date. If you check out EuroGamer’s recent article you can see a list of 60 games which you will be able to download, we can also confirm that if you buy the Xperia Play from Orange UK it will come with the following games pre-installed: Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, FIFA 2010, Sims 3, Star Battalion and Tetris. Also you may be glad to hear that Asphalt 6 will be free to download. Some original PSX tiles will also be available, these are Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Jumping Jack Flash, MediEvil and Syphon Filter, all of these titles were great first-time round, my personal favorites back in the day were Syphone Filter and Cool Boarders 2. As previously mentioned there are plenty of other games available, games which we think will be popular include Assassins Creed, Worms, Need for Speed SHIFT, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock Mobile, Splinter Cell Conviction, Spiderman total Mayhem and Avatar. All of the games mentioned above (and the rest which are mentioned on EuroGamer) will be available to download via the Xperia Play launcher, when downloading games via the Android Market you should ensure that the title has been optimized for the Xperia Play. So then guys and girls which titles will you be purchasing? To be honest with you I would take any of the original PSX title (excluding Jumping Jack Flash), how about you? For more coverage:

| 2011 Honda Odyssey Recall, Window Faults Affects 2,800 Posted: 01 Apr 2011 04:52 AM PDT We have recently heard that there is a recall affecting certain 2011 Honda Odyssey models, apparently the problem affects around 2,800 vehicles, therefore if own the 2011 Odyssey or know someone who does you should continue reading this article. The problem is related to the driver and front passenger electric windows, apparently the windows could come off their tracks, which could result them becoming stuck. This could potentially cause the window to shatter, which poses an obvious risk to the vehicle’s occupants. From what we can see it is the window which is at fault not the electric window mechanism, if your vehicle is affected a safety recall will begin on roughly April 15, dealers will replace the faulty window glass free of charge. If you think you may be affected you can contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009, if you have further concerns you can contact the NHTSA on 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153) or visit the SaferCar website.
