| Online iPad 2 Orders Arriving Now, Apple Adjusting Inventory Posted: 16 Mar 2011 03:18 PM PDT
It seems that several costumers have confirmed they have received their iPad 2 shipments, while others have received confirmation via FedEx. Keep in mind that most of these orders were most likely placed in the early hours of March 11. Basically, as soon as Apple opened their online orders last week. Any new online orders via the Apple Store will now ship within 4 to 5 weeks. Many folks have complained about Apple’s inventory management situation. Apple even opened some select stores one hour earlier this week, but their inventory was once again way short of demand, which frustrated many customers across the nation. Given the current iPad 2 inventory situation, Apple has apparently decided to make some changes to their inventory management process. AppleInsider has reported that Apple is holding new iPad 2 inventory for a “next-day sale” strategy. The company is hoping to help their store employees manage inventory expectations a bit better. Apple’s iPad strategy has been to place the product on shelves quickly, but with the iPad 2 strong demand this has cause inventory inaccuracies, which has certainly led to new customers returning home empty handed after standing in line for hours. Will this allow you to plan better when to hit your nearest Apple Store? We will have to wait and see. Apple is trying to remedy the inventory issues by keeping a reasonable amount of iPad 2 units in stores. Perhaps, this could allow you to plan your next trip to the store, and even allow Apple to open some stores earlier than usual, and at last give consumers a chance to buy the new tablet. | More iPad 2 Accessories – Marware and Speck Cases Posted: 16 Mar 2011 11:41 AM PDT The iPad 2 eco-system is slowly building up. Several accessory makers like Piel Frama, Propup, and Belkin have already announced their new accessories available during the spring. The latest ones to join the club are Marware and Speck, which have unveiled new cases, covers and shells for Apple’s new tablet. Speck has become an iOS accessory maker market leader with its wide variety of great cases available for a range of mobile devices, from iPad to MacBook and other products. The company has now unveiled new cases for the iPad 2, and has also redesigned some of its existing iPad cases for the new tablet as well. Speck has unveiled the PixelSkin HD Wrap for iPad 2. The new case will start shipping in mid-April for $49.95, and will be available in three colors – black, pink or cobalt. This new case resembles the brand new Smart Cover from Apple. It provides a protective and slim-fitting with a stylish glossy-matte finish, and a cover that folds into viewing and typing stand. The PixelSkin HD offers a skin for the back of the iPad 2, which is something Apple’s Smart Covers do not include.
Another Speck case for the iPad 2 is the iGuy. The iGuy is a colorful iPad cover available in three colors – green, blue and yellow. It’s a free-standing kid-friendly case for the first generation iPad and iPad 2. The iGuy will be available in mid-April for $39.95. Speck has also redesigned the hard-shell CandyShell Wrap for iPad 2. The iPad 2 version will be available in mid-April for $59.95. Last month, we reviewed the CandyShell case for the first generation iPad (click here). Over the next couple of months Speck will also release additional iPad 2 cases. Stay tuned, we plan to cover those at PadGadget. Finally, another vendor that has announced an iPad 2 case is Marware, which has introduced the Microshell iPad Case for $39.99. This is a polycarbonate shell designed to suit up and protect the back of the iPad against scratches and impact. It is made out of a rubberized finish that snaps onto the iPad 2. It has been designed so that you can use this protective case in conjunction with Apple’s Smart Covers, another sleeve, bag or carrying pouch. » Related posts:
