| Castlevania: Lords of Shadow DLC: Reverie Gets Date and Trailer Posted: 17 Mar 2011 04:15 AM PDT In an earlier post we published an article giving you details of new DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow with a release date which, however a later post then confirmed that it has been delayed, today Joystiq confirm that the developers have given us a definate release date on one part of the DLC and they’ve also thrown in a trailer to prove it. Reverie is the name that Xbox and Playstation owners will be keen to look out for on March 30 as they continue their battle against evil in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The DLC is only one of two packs announced and will be available at a price of 800 Microsoft Points $10. The Reverie DLC release date mentioned above is for European games, no US date has been confirmed, however we imagine that the US release date will be very similar. The content will pick up from where gamers left off in their campaign but will pose an even darker threat than the one faced before. The trailer below should be sufficient enough for now to get you excited for the date, check out the video and tell us what you think of the new story in the game, does it attract you to buying the DLC this month? | Apple’s value plummets over fears of growth Posted: 17 Mar 2011 04:14 AM PDT Apple has been in the news recently due to the launch of the iPad 2, and we have had a lot of talk on how many they might be selling. But Apple has been with hit some not so good news as they have suffered an unusual Wall Street downgrade. Stewart Mitchell from PC Pro is reporting there are fears that Apple's rapid rise is slowing, and this caused its shares to post their biggest single day loss in nine months. Investors have also been worried about the impact of the dreadful events in Japan. Apple lost about $14 billion in value in one single day following JMP Securities’ Alex Gauna decision to downgrade stock. He pointed at a sharp drop in sales growth at the company's biggest Asian supplier as a sign of sales slowing. Japan is a major source for its screens, but many analysts have said Apple have enough power and pervious track record to find critical components for now. Across two days Apple's value dropped almost $22 billion, but another analyst has said demand for the iPad 2 was strong enough to keep up the soaring growth of the company for now. With events in Japan many companies have seen shares drop, so this could be just a small blip in the success that is Apple. What do you think will we see Apple becoming less of a force in the tech world? For more coverage: |

| Google Mobile iOS App Receives Major Update: Now Google Search Posted: 17 Mar 2011 03:42 AM PDT We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that own an Apple iOS device and use the free Google Mobile App, as the application has just received a major update. Not only has the app's name now been changed to Google Search, but it also makes it easier for users to narrow their search results. As Lance Whitney over at cnet.com recently noted, users will notice the changes that have been made to the application right away, what with the screen now resembling the one found on Google's web page. If users tap on the microphone icon, the app enables them to speak their query. However, if they then tap on the camera icon, they are able to search for products and other items by taking their photographs. Google then displays the familiar search resulst page and if users swipe their finger left to right, the app displays a sidebar that provides options for filtering your search by certain categories. This includes videos, images, shopping, places, news and blogs. Tapping on any of the said categories then displays those specific results. Besides the tweaks to its search feature, the Google Search app also offers quick access to other Google Apps such as Gmail, Docs, Maps and Calendar. There's also an icon on the top of the screen that enables users to view and change the settings for both the app and their Google account. Have you downloaded the updated Google Search app yet? If you have, what do you think of the improvements? For more coverage: |

| Resident Evil: Director’s Cut – PSOne Game on Way to EU PSN Posted: 17 Mar 2011 03:09 AM PDT When the Resident Evil: Director's Cut game was released onto the US PlayStation Store over a year ago, European gamers may have felt a bit left out. Well it looks like they don't have to feel that way much longer, as Capcom has recently confirmed that the PSOne classic is on its way to the EU PSN. According to Wesley Yin-Poole over on the eurogamer.net website, the Resident Evil: Director's Cut game – which will cost PlayStaion 3 owners £7.99/€9.99 to download – is in fact an updated version of the original Resident Evil title first released back in September 1997. The Director's Cut inlcudes an arranged edition of the game, which changes the locations of almost every important item found within Resident Evil's zombie-infested mansion. The main characters within the game are seen wearing different clothes, and players get an improved handgun. Resident Evil: Director's Cut also comes with a beginner mode, which doubles the amount of ammunition that is available to find and makes the enemies a lot easier to kill. You can view a few screenshots for the upcoming PSN game over on the eurogamer.net website. Are you a fan of the Resident Evil franchise? If so, will you be downloading the Resident Evil: Director's Cut game? For more coverage: |

Best of all, these cars are all available on the market for $10,000 or under so they are easy on your wallet too. First on the list is the Honda Prelude, which has been ranked number one used car under $10,000 by the guys over at Epinions. You would usually find a new model for around $30,000 but some car dealers now are selling old models for the $10,000 mark which may be of interest you to. If you’re looking for something more glamorous for your $10K, then why not consider the Audi A4. Again, you can expect to pay around $30,000 for a new model, but you’ll be surprised to find this also at the $10,000 mark at some dealers. The A4 is visually more impressive than the Prelude so we have a feeling you’ll be more interested in picking one up than the Honda. If these two models do not interest you, you’re probably looking for a different opinion. We’ve also found another useful article over at Cars.com, which gives another used car list for $10,000 and under. Some of their models include the 2009-2010 Nissan Versa, 2007 Kia Optima and the 2005-2006 Toyota Corolla. What are your thoughts on this topic? Do you have a recommendation of a particular model which falls under the $10,000 used car category? Share your tips with us below. For more coverage: |

The web search giant is celebrating today in style with a couple of of themed Google Doodle designs – yes, there is more than one today. Today is obviously all about celebrating the Irish culture, whether that means enjoying a cold pint of guinness or wearing green colors, joining a parade or trying to perfect your homemade corned beef and cabbage recipe. Google are obviously in the mood today, as it’s not often you see them display two Google doodles. The one below is what you see at the US homepage: There is also a completely different St Patrick’s Day doodle for when you visit the Irish Google homeage, check it out below. Which one do you think looks best? The Irish one is obviously a bit more artistic, so we have a feeling you may favor that one. Both doodle’s redirect to the main search results for St Patrick’s Day though, where you can view a lot more information about the history of St Patrick’s Day on the Wikipedia page here. | 2012 BMW M5 F10: Video Tease Before Release Date Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:33 AM PDT Ahead of next month's Shanghai Motor Show BMW have released a new video teaser of the 2012 BMW M5 F10M. The car is set to debut at the show next month before a production version is set to be revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. The video shows the M5 being driving during a winter testing session by different engineers and test drivers. According to an article over at Gmotors.co.uk by Andrew Baker they unfortunately talk about the car in German, so unless you understand the language you won't know what they are saying. The M5 has been a great offering from BMW for many generations, and this version will have a spiced up 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 which produces up to 580 horsepower. It also has a M-DCT dual-clutch transmission, rear-wheel drive, and the usual host of M model improvments. Check the video out for yourself below. For more coverage: |
| Treyarch to Update Engine to Compete with Battlefield’s Frostbite 2.0? Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:28 AM PDT While the unveiling of EA DICE’s new Frostbite 2 engine has certainly raised a few eyebrows in the gaming industry, we have a video to show you now which lets you see what Treyarch think of the new engine, and you may be surprised to hear the outcome. You may think that Treyarch would play down the hype surrounding the Frostbite 2 engine which will be used in Battlefield 3, a likely competitor to Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game, but it wasnt the case. Treyarch’s Josh Olin actually thinks the Frostbite 2 engine is very impressive, as you can see from his comments in a HipHopGamerShow Interview below: ”I thought it looked really beautiful, It is a visually stunning engine and I’m forward to seeing it in action on the Xbox 360 and PS3” He was then asked if he thought the inclusion of the Frostbite 2 engine in Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor was a direct challenge to Treyarch and Call of Duty, and he said that they could update their engine if they wanted to, just like they did from World at War to Black Ops. Check out the video from 5.30 onwards to hear Josh Olin talk about this aspect. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Treyarch will come up with a plan to make their next Call of Duty game as equally as stunning as EA’s Frostbite 2 engine, or do you think they stand no chance. So far, nobody knows what Modern Warfare 3 looks like, and who knows when the next Treyarch game will be out, since they’ll just be focusing on DLC for Black Ops throughout the year. How impressed are you with the Frostbite 2 engine? For more coverage: |
| Angry Birds Rio: New Gameplay Shows Boss Battles Posted: 16 Mar 2011 08:53 PM PDT We have a treat for Angry Birds fans now, as we have some new gameplay to show you from the upcoming Angry Birds Rio game, which will be available soon. The game is a considerable step-up from previous Angry Bird versions, featuring a brand new interface and improved graphics. This is probably the first solid gameplay that has been shown for Angry Birds Rio since it’s announcement, and the video also gives a glimpse of one of the brand new features of the game – boss battles. Towards the end of the video, you’ll see the Angry Birds try to take down a flying bird, in which even Rovio’s Ville Heijari has a few problems trying to defeat it. The video also shows off the slick new cutscenes that you’ll get before each episode and the new interface changes which you can see at the end of each level – it looks pretty good on the tablet shown in the video we thought. There are a few choppy moments during gameplay, but Heijari is keen to point out that this remains an early build of the game, and it will be much smoother by the time Rio is out later on this month. Watch the video below and let us know your thoughts on it. Will you be picking up Angry Birds Rio or not? For more coverage: |
| HTC Thunderbolt: Amazon Price – Reality Check for Consumers Posted: 16 Mar 2011 08:21 PM PDT Just before you go and jump into a HTC Thunderbolt contract with Verizon for $249.99, you need to hold it right there. Amazon has stepped up and stole Verizon and Best Buy’s thunder by severely undercutting both retailers with an unbeatable contract price for the handset. Instead of $249.99 for the device, you can pick one up from Amazon online for just $179.99, the same 2-year contract deal that both Verizon and Best Buy are offering. If you’re interested you better order straight away, as we doubt the ‘in stock’ status message on Amazon’s product listing will stay that way in the next 24 hours. Amazon are no strangers to undercutting other retailers in the past, but even we didn’t expect them to pull a move like this for the HTC Thunderbolt. Obviously, we’re not complaining but we doubt Best Buy will be too happy about this. They may even drop their prices too now or introduce an extra incentive like in-store credit to try and tempt customers back into their Thunderbolt deal. If you do manage to buy one online from Amazon, let us know how the process went for you, and how happy you are saving all of those extra dollars. Way to go Amazon. For more coverage: |
| Sony NGP (PSP2): 3G and WiFi Price Rumors Posted: 16 Mar 2011 08:02 PM PDT It has been a while since we last heard any details on the upcoming Sony NGP in terms of a price point, but now we have some rumors for you. These rumors are somewhat more appealing that the average speculation though, as it has surfaced from game developers Ubisoft. It turns out that a research firm called Toluna are running a survey on the NGP or PSP2, and this survey is in fact officially sponsored by Ubisoft. The question asked though was the most interesting part, as you can see below, as reported from Kotaku: The thing is, we don’t actually know this retail price, as Sony hasn’t announced it yet, unless of course Ubisoft know something we don’t. You should be aware that this $350 price relates to the 3G version of the model, while the standard version of the NGP is meant to be set at $250 according to the survey. What are your thoughts on this? Would you be happy paying $350 for the 3G version? Either way, $250 is a very good price for the standard edition if it turns out to be correct. Don’t forget that Sony has already stated that pricing for the NGP would be ‘affordable’, so $250 sounds about right to us. You can read further information on PSP2 pricing in our previous report here. For more coverage: |
| V-Moda Crossfade LP Headphone Review Posted: 16 Mar 2011 04:36 PM PDT Sometimes when we get sent products to review we can tell how good they are just by looking at the packaging, this was the case when we were recently sent the V-Moda Crossfade LP over-ear headphones. When you open the packaging you have to cut a ribbon and undo a button to get inside, once inside you see a professional and strong exoskeleton case which keep your headphones, cables and 3.5mm to 1/4-inch adapter safe from damage. There are two cables within the exoskeleton casing, one of which is a 36-inch remote/mic cable and the other is a 69-inch stereo audio cable. Other package contents include a V-Moda VIP card which allows you to register your product and gain exclusive access to product and event offers, access to musique podcasts and preview upcoming products. Also there is a lint-free cloth for polishing your metal headphones, you can see a photo of the professional retail packaging below. When you unzip the headphones from the exoskeleton casing you get to see how how well-made the headphones are, when you pick them up you feel how soft the leather is and how lightweight and balanced they are, there are some nice metallic touches. Which when you look at the audio cables you can see that they are also high-quality, apparently these are Kevlar-reinforced and when even the jack plugs themselves are professional-looking, you can see a photo of the exoskeleton casing below. For me the headphones fitted perfectly without any adjustment, however you can adjust the headband to suit your head if you need to. The headphones themselves weigh just 280 grams and the air-cushion memory foam-lined headband and soft-leather ear cushions make the headphones very comfortable. The headphone barely move if you shake your head, that said the firm grip does not put pressure on your ears. There is a jack socket on the underside of the left ear, here you can plug in your stereo audio cable or the remote/mic cable, Firstly I tested the music playback quality, I loaded up Spotify and played a few tracks, it was noticeable that Spotify Open’s 160kbps audio was not up to scratch so I played some MP3′s which had a 320kbps bit rate, this is when the quality of these headphones began to shine. I played Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy at full blast and my ears couldn’t take the volume too long, however the sound quality was great and the bass did not sound at all distorted, in fact whatever 320kbps audio I threw at the Crossfade LP’s it all sounded great. V-Moda claim that these headphones were developed over four-years after working with DJs, producers and musicians, it really does show. I got even better results when plugged into my Teufel Concept B 200′s integrated sound card. I then thought I would try out the remote/mic cable, I plugged the cable into my headphones and my BlackBerry Bold 9700 and made a call, my partner claimed that the cable’s mic sounded fine and I could hear her voice clearly, apparently when plugged into the iPhone 3GS the button will end calls, however my BlackBerry just muted the caller when pressed, the volume controls worked just fine. You can buy yourself a pair of V Moda Crossfade headphones for $199.99 in the US (here) or £99.99 in the UK (here), there are a wide-range of colors to choose from including White Pearl, Phantom Chrome, Gunmetal Black and Nero. Below we have listed some important tech specs, you can find out more about these headphones here. Conclusion I really cannot fault the Crossfade LP Headphones, in terms of design, build quality and attention detail the headphones are great and the sound quality is unquestionable, let’s face it you could easily spend half as much on a pair of headphone which will be uncomfortable, deliver average audio and probably last you half as long, however I get the impression that the Crossfade LP headphone will last me years and still look as great in a few years time. If you think you have manufactured better headphones email me, I would love to do a side-by-side comparison. Here are some more photos:

Well now it looks like you will get the opportunity to, and you won't even have to leave the comfort of your own living room to do so!! | Watch Major League Baseball on MLB Facebook Page Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:53 PM PDT It has been revealed on Allfacebook.com that Facebook is going to be used to stream live Major League Baseball games straight to the MLB Facebook page wall. Soon members of the leading social networking site will be able to go onto the MLB page and join thousands of others in watching a live selected game on their screen. The decision was made by the folks at MLB who have decided to allow users to watch selected games until the end of the month which is also the end of the pre-season games, all free of charge. The video shown on the facebook page will not be resizable unless you then signed up to the MLB site and watch the stream from there. The plan is a cunning tactic to test the promotional power that Facebook has and it has logic to it. Facebook already has a large percentage of the world’s entire population online and can act as a customer base for many companies, therefore millions of people will get used to watching baseball from their computer / tablet/ The streaming is not permanent however and a similar idea has already been thought of by the UFC. The idea however is to attract enough attention to the free games in order to make people want to spend money on viewing the in-season games when they begin. Will you be watching pre-season MLB this month for free? For more coverage: |
