iOS 4.3's Safari speed boost missing from web apps

Posted:

When Apple announced iOS 4.3 earlier this month, they explained that Safari would be getting a major speedboost thanks to its new Nitro JavaScript engine. Unfortunately for anyone using in-app browsers or web apps installed to the device's home screen, browsing done outside of the native Safari app will not enjoy the same boost, which can make browsing up to 2.5 times faster, says Ars Technica. The issue arises from the fact that only Safari can execute the dynamically generated native code...

Lately we've been seeing some leaks that purportedly show off the iPhone 5 and its iPhone 4-like design, and today more possible evidence of the iPhone 5's form factor has come to light. Cases that claim to be intended for use with Apple's next generation iPhone have begun appearing online, and they look fairly similar to something that would fit an iPhone 4. There are holes for the headphone jack, power/sleep button, SIM slot, camera and LED, volume buttons, and dock connector, but there's no...

It may be the industry leader, but Android isn't without its faults

Posted:

Android has come a very long way in a relatively short time. The smartphone market is volatile and fast-paced; one wrong move could send you spiraling to the bottom of comScore's next market share report . Google, however, has seemingly made many right decisions over the last two and a half years, setting their pride and joy at the top of many different lists and reports. It was believed that it would take Android until February 2012 to beat out the iPhone for US market share. In...

Android 2.2 now gracing over 60 percent of devices with its presence

Normally Google updates its Android OS distribution numbers at the beginning of the month, but it appears that for March, they decided to wait until the middle of the month to give up figures. Android 2.3.3 also made its first appearance on Google's pie...

White CDMA iPhone 4 icon spotted deep inside iTunes 10.2

Apple has said in the past that the white iPhone 4 is coming sometime this spring, but there's been no indication on whether or not it'll only it the GSM model that gets a frosty makeover or if Verizon's iPhone will also get a fresh coat of white paint. After digging in the iTunes 10.2 resource files, though, it appears that Apple has at least considered the possibility of a white CDMA iPhone 4.
