For $600 with a two-year agreement or $800 contract-free, the XOOM is a little on the expensive side, but offers some serious specifications. A 1GHz...

Samsung ’s tablet plans are robust and pretty intriguing. But, rumors have it that the company also has plans on moving in the mid-range, too. And now it’s starting to look like they’ve got...

The Motorola XOOM may have just come to market last week, but that doesn't mean that Moto isn't looking ahead to future products of the tablet variety. Speaking at Morgan Stanley's Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, CEO Sanjay Jha promised that Motorola would be releasing more tablets before 2011 is up. He didn't provide any details, but the CEO did mention the 7-inch screen size more than once, at one point calling the form factor "fun" and "portable." Jha also touched on tablet...

Apple exec hints at cheaper iPhone

Posted:

Along with the iPad 2 and iPhone 5, a cheaper iPhone has been one of the more oft rumored Apple devices as of late. We first heard rumors of a more affordable iPhone in the middle of this month, and today Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi is adding fuel to the fire. During a meeting with Apple COO Tim Cook, Sacconaghi claims that Cook "appeared to reaffirm the notion that Apple is likely to develop lower priced offerings" and said that Apple doesn't want its products to be "just for...

Buying a new smartphone can be a tricky affair, especially when you're choosing a mid-range or low-end device. After all, you'd like to choose a phone that'll see at least an update or two before the manufacturer stops supporting it. The possibility of not seeing any updates is something that LG Optimus owners don't need to worry about, though, as LG exec Kenneth Hong has promised that his company will offer at least "a one-level upgrade" for all of its Optimus smartphones that arrive in the...

Rumor: iPad 2 to get a white paint job

Posted:

Apple's big iPad event is only a couple of days away, and today we've got an entirely new spec that may make it into the next iOS tablet: a white color scheme. As you can see up above, the folks over at 9 to 5 Mac snagged a photo of what they claim to be the bezel, aka digitizer, of the iPad 2. The front of the bezel is as frosty white as the snow that's been covering a lot of the country all winter long, and the placement of the camera hole seems to fit those alleged iPad 2 screen protectors...

The thought of a real Android tablet contender has stirred the tech world for months. Sporting a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 10.1-inch display, and Android 3.0, the Motorola XOOM should be the one to fill those shoes. Sitting a bit on the pricy side, you can now make a XOOM tablet your very own for $600 and a two-year agreement with Verizon or for $800 contract-free. After all of the wait, is the Motorola XOOM worth the chunk of change, and is it enough to knock the Apple iPad from its...

According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple has deployed a pattern-style lock screen to employees for use with the "Apple Connect" iOS app, and they may plan to extend the pattern lock to other internal apps in the future. However, it's not clear if pattern locking will make its way to...

When it was first announced, customers were just going to have...
