Windows Phone 7 Hitting Verizon End of Next Month

Posted: 27 Feb 2011 01:54 AM PST

If you are in the market for a Microsoft Windows Phone 7 device and your preferred carrier in the US is Verizon then it would appear that you wont have much longer to wait to be able to snap up a Windows Phone 7 handset on the Big Red.

According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, the guys over at Winrumors are claiming that the usual unnamed “people familiar with the company’s plans” Verizon may make an official announcement on the 28th of Feb.

That announcement would be along the lines that a Windows Phone 7 smartphone, namely the HTC 7 Trophy will launch on the network sometime towards the end of March commanding a price tag of $200 based on a 2-year agreement.

Furthermore, the word is that the HTC 7 Trophy will sport Microsoft’s “NoDo” update, which of course is Microsoft’s update bringing the copy and paste feature to Windows Phone 7 devices.

That’s about it, so as long as those “people familiar with the company’s plans” are spot on with their info we can expect the WP7 HTC 7 Trophy to hit before April Fools day. Anyone hoping to snap up the HTC 7 Trophy on Verizon?

Android Gingerbread Heading for HTC Desire, Z, HD, Incredible S in Q2

For anyone owning a European Handset of the HTC Desire family or the HTC Incredible S you just might like to hear that your Android smartphone should be seeing an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the not too distant future.

According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, the guys over at Slash Gear are saying that HTC has informed them that the HTC Desire, HTC Desire Z, HTC Desire HD and the HTC Incredible S handset will be updated from Android 2.2 Froyo to Gingerbread sometime in Q2.

Apparently HTC officially announced… "We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2."

So there you have it, at least over here in Europe we don't seem to be having as many delays with operating system updates as they do over in the good ole US of A. So any of our Desire toting readers excited about getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread?

Apple iPad 2 “Near Immediate” Release Next Week

Posted: 27 Feb 2011 01:29 AM PST

Well now, we know that Apple is holding an event on the 2nd of March, which has been rumoured to unveil the next generation Apple iPad, but what about when will we see the Apple iPad 2 release to the public?

Well according to an article over on Redmond Pie by way of Apple Insider, it appears that potential customers could have their mitts on the next generation Apple iOS tablet just after the event.

Here’s what Apple Insider says the “people familiar with the matter” say…” Apple is preparing several of its operating segments to perform functions during the second half of next week that are representative of nothing short of a large scale, consumer-oriented product roll out (not just an announcement). And with official invitations to next Wednesday's press briefing clearly indicating a focus on iPad, these people believe at least one version of the refreshed device will be in transit to retail outlets during that briefing.”

Apparently the “people familiar with the matter” have constantly delivered accurate info on Apple gear in the past, so if those people are correct, potential customers could well see the Apple iPad 2 release sometime next week.

Anyone going to be rushing in line to snap up the Apple iPad 2 right after that Apple event at the Yerba Buena Centre in Sans Francisco?
