Posted: Although the HTC DROID Incredible 2 is still without an official release date, the evidence that it's coming on April 28th seems to grow every day. The latest bits of proof emerged earlier today, as the folks at Droid-Life have posted images showing that DInc 2 demo units are arriving in Verizon stores along with what very well may be the device's official retail packaging. The Incredible 2 didn't arrive alone, though, as demo units of the Casio G'zOne Commando, which also happens to be... |
iPhone 5 to feature 3.7-inch display and an iPod touch-like body? Posted: Many of the rumors about the iPhone 5 that we've heard up until now have claimed that the device will feature a design similar to the iPhone 4, but with a larger screen and bumped up specs. According to details gathered from sources speaking with This is my next, though, this year's new iPhone will actually feature a look that's quite a bit different from the iPhone 4 that may be resting in your pocket right now. The tipsters claim that one of the designs that's being considered looks a lot... |
Is innovation happening too quickly in the mobile market? Posted: It’s a great time to be interested in the mobile market. Whether you’re just a fan, or someone who works in the market in some capacity or another, we’re looking at some of the fastest advancements for smartphones and other mobile devices that we’ve ever seen. Manufacturers are taking smartphones into a whole new universe, packing in advanced technology that only computers took advantage of in years prior. But everything changes, and with advancement comes new... |
Should RIM have waited to launch the PlayBook after BlackBerry World? Posted: RIM's annual event, BlackBerry World (formerly known as WES ), is being held in Orlando, Florida on May 3-5. A few years ago there was always a lot going on for the Waterloo-based company (device launches, rumored devices making appearances, etc.), especially right before a big event. This year has undoubtedly been a slow one for RIM, especially on the new device front. There were a few leaks over the past few months, but nothing particularly mind-blowing or out of the ordinary, and... |
Samsung responds to Apple's lawsuit with a suit of its own Posted: Just days ago, we learned that Apple had filed a lawsuit against Samsung alleging that the latter's Galaxy devices "copied" the look and feel of Apple's iPhone and iPad. Unsurprisingly, Samsung has fired back with a lawsuit, or more specifically three lawsuits, against Apple. The suits are filed in Germany, Japan, and South Korea, and claim that Apple is infringing on 10 of Samsung's patents that include things like "power reduction during data transmission, 3G technology for reducing errors... |
T-Mobile Sidekick 4G vs. T-Mobile G2 Dogfight Pt. 2 Posted: It's a battle between two high-end Android phones! Aaron pits the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G and the T-Mobile G2 against eachother to see which one comes out on top. The Sidekick 4G is powered by a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and offers a 3.5-inch display, 3-megapixel camera (without a flash), front-facing camera for video calling, and Android 2.2 with a custom Sidekick user interface. The T-Mobile G2 has an 800 MHz next-generation Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch... |
T-Mobile Sidekick 4G vs. T-Mobile G2 Pt. 1 Posted: It's a dogfight between the T-Mobile QWERTY Android phones! Aaron compares the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G and the T-Mobile G2 , two awesome smartphones on Magenta. The Sidekick 4G offers a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 3.5-inch display, 3-megapixel camera (without a flash), front-facing camera for video chats, and Android 2.2 with a custom user interface. The T-Mobile G2 has an 800 MHz next-generation Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch display, 5-megapixel camera, and a stock... |
Rumor: Motorola Bullet, Jet are the firm's first two Tegra 3 Android phones Posted: Sure, we've already seen a few unannounced Motorola Android phones like the Targa and DROID 3 leak recently, but you wouldn't mind if we added a couple more rumored devices to the pile, right? Right. According to a source speaking with Droid-Life, Moto is currently hard at work at two devices which admittedly may not be revealed until Q1 2012, but when you find out the specs that these handsets are reportedly packing, you'll agree that the wait may be worth it. First up, the full-touch Motorola... |
Sprint planning to reinstate mail-in rebates on May 7th? Posted: Back in March, Sprint made the decision to replace mail-in rebates with instant discounts for a limited time, although the carrier wouldn't comment on exactly how long the promotion would last. Well, if you're in the market for a new Sprint handset and think mail-in rebates are the work of some sort of evil entity, you'd better make your purchase soon; MIRs could be returning to Sprint as soon as May 7th. That's the word according to a leaked document sent over to the folks at Spantechular,... |
Should cell phone manufacturers focus more on going green? Posted: We here at PhoneDog and you guys and gals alike mainly focus on new mobile tech , when a new device is coming to the market, what specifications it will feature, etc. But seldom do we stop and think about the process behind making those products and what harm these major companies may be doing to our environment. In honor of Earth Day, we're going to take a minute and look into some of the practices of the companies that we love so dearly. Just in time for the one day we all somewhat... |
RIM planning to unveil only the Bold Touch at BlackBerry World? Posted: To say that there have been several BlackBerry leaks lately would be an understatement, with a handful of unannounced products posing for both photos and videos. Up to now, the expectation is that RIM would reveal all of these 'Berrys at their BlackBerry World event next month, but now it sounds like that may not be the case. According to two different sources speaking with BGR, RIM made the last minute decision to only unveil the BlackBerry Bold Touch, aka Dakota/Montana, at BlackBerry World,... |
Motorola DROID X2 press images break cover Posted: The Motorola DROID X2 has leaked more times than anyone can keep track of, but this morning a new set of images of the device appeared that may be more significant than ones we've seen in the past. Why is that, you ask? Well, the fact that they're a batch of press shots suggests that a launch could be just around the corner. We're also finally treated to a shot of the X2's logo in these images, which shows that the device could be known as the DROID X², aka X-squared, rather than DROID X2 when... |
Samsung Infuse 4G stars in leaked Walmart ad with estimated May availability, $178.88 price tag Posted: We haven't heard much about the Samsung Infuse 4G ever since it was announced way back in January, but it appears that the 4.5-inch superphone may finally be close to launch. Samsung and AT&T haven't given up any release details on the Infuse 4G just yet but, according to a Walmart circular handed over to the folks at Android Central, the device will be landing sometime next month for $178.88, most likely with a two-year contract. As a quick refresher, the Infuse 4G packs a 4.5-inch, 800x480... |
Jeffrey Michalak unboxes his Samsung Epic 4G from the One-Paw! Posted: In case you can't tell, we like giving stuff away . A lot. We also like seeing (or in this case, hearing) people get excited when they win something from us. Jeffrey Michalak won a Samsung Epic 4G a few weeks back in the One-Paw Bandit game, and threw up an official unboxing on YouTube. The resolution is low (he was shooting it with his iPhone 3G, which I'm assuming will be replaced by the Epic 4G), but it's the thought that counts! Check it out below, and be... |
