Danny Musico’s Celebrity Fitness: New App Heading to iOS

How do you like the sound of being able to receive fitness and dietary tips from a celebrity fitness trainer such as Danny Musico? Well now it looks like you'll be to, as the former Super-Middleweight World Champion is about to launch his 'Danny Musico's Celebrity Fitness' app for iOS devices.

As Dusan over at intomobile.com recently noted, the 'Danny Musico's Celebrity Fitness' app – which is due to arrive on the Apple App Store on May 1st – will provide users with all the tips and tricks that Danny uses to train his celebrity clientele, which includes Jessica Simpson, Toby Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The upcoming application will not only provide users with training videos in which Danny will show them exactly how to achieve the right form, but it also features a download-once library of content (which enables you to browse even when you're offline) and nutrition and dietary tips.

Users will also be provided with information about supplements and other nutritional aids. Danny Musico was originally meant to compete in the 1991 Olympics as the captain of the boxing team, but shortly beforehand he was hit by a reckless driver as he was crossing the street.

Danny was initially told that he would never walk again after the accident, but following a full year in hospital and nine major surgeries he made a full recovery. A few years later he became the Super-Middleweight World Champion. Will you be downloading the 'Danny Musico's Celebrity Fitness' app?

Wal-Mart online delivery now features grocery shopping

Wal-Mart online delivery now features grocery shopping

In the UK many of the big grocery retailers offer online deliveries of their produce straight to the consumer's door. Now testing has begun that has Wal-Mart online delivery that features grocery shopping.

An article on Reuters is reporting the test has begun in San Jose, California a Walmart spokesman confirmed on Saturday. There have been rumors for a while that the world's largest retailer was considering offering the service.

Called Wal-Mart To Go the service will allow consumers to visit the company's website to order consumables and groceries, and have them sent direct to their homes. This includes products such as fresh goods, bakery, baby, over-the –counter pharmacy, frozen, meat and seafood, household supplies, and health and beauty items.

So far the online service has been difficult to achieve because of the short shelf life of fresh food, and the small profit margins involved. If Wal-Mart decides to roll out the service it will go up against Amazon Fresh and Peapod.

The company's grocery business is already responsible for around $140.6 billion in sales last year. In the US groceries accounted for 54% of Wal-Mart's total revenue. Would you like to get your groceries delivered to your home?

Additional PSN Security After PlayStation Network Down

Additional PSN Security After PlayStation Network Down

PlayStation 3 owners continue to be frustrated with the PlayStation Network down time that is now going past four days. Up to recently Sony has not been updating the situation with what's going on and how much longer it will remain offline. But now we can tell you that Sony are adding additional security after the PSN down time.

Sony have posted on their Official Blog and apologized about the services being suspended. They have said that they are totally rebuilding the system and "decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security".

They go and thank users for their patience and will post more updates when they become available. Many of you have been commenting on PRs pages with your continued annoyance and frustration concerning the outage. One of the biggest complaints is the lack of up to date information from Sony.

We have recently asked you if you would consider paying for a more secure PlayStation Network, and the majority of you who have taken part in the poll have said no. When PSN first went down Sony said it would be only for a "day or two". We also asked you what else you may be doing while PSN is down.

What do you make of this latest update from Sony?

History of Easter eggs for gaming

History of Easter eggs for gaming

Today is the day when you can start tucking in to those lovely Easter eggs, but Easter eggs also sometimes turn up in video games. The History of Easter eggs for gaming began back in 1980 when an Atari programmer begun making a video game of the original text adventure.

An in-depth article on GameSpotUK has looked at the history of video games with Easter eggs. They are mainly found in games as an award for unlocking a certain feature, which could sometimes be revealed by pressing certain button combinations.

A repeated trick in the Grand Theft Auto series gave you a small picture of an Easter egg for reaching the end of the games. With San Andreas you don't actually get an egg, but are met with a message of there being none left and go away. Of course being in a Grand Theft Auto game the language is a little stronger.

Before gamers playing World of Warcraft could search the snowy parts for Easter eggs that are filled with candy, they could also try and find an Easter dress and suit. The old Sega Master System back in 1986 had its own Easter egg built into the system called snail.

Use the link above to read the full article about Easter eggs in gaming.

New iOS 5.0 Rumors Squashed, White iPhone 4 With Jailbreak

New iOS 5.0 Rumors Squashed, White iPhone 4 With Jailbreak

Earlier this week we showed you some videos that apparently unveiled the White iPhone 4, which had iOS 5 running, or that's what it seemed to be. Now it looks like bloggers and iPhone users are squashing these new iOS 5.0 rumors.

You can see the two videos in this post here, which were made in Vietnam. One of the videos seems to show a new style of multitasking that is not standard for iOS 4, although we've received feedback from our readers that some features shown are possible on an iPhone 4 jailbreak.

One reader said that Multifl0w is used to multi-talk, and that was used in the video on an iPhone 4 with a white faceplate. The videos do look impressive, but we can confirm some of the features are possible on a jailbroken iPhone.

Some people thought this could be a White iPhone 5, although earlier Apple rumors point to the 5th generation iPhone not having the GB capacity on the back. We're likely to never know how official many leaked videos are, with most being made by Apple fans, but with the recent news of a white iPhone 4 getting sold early in the UK, anything is possible.

If you have not seen the videos, check out the previous article and let us know if you agree that the device is just a jailbroken iPhone 4.

Verizon iPhone 5, design prototypes vs. production-ready

Verizon iPhone 5, design prototypes vs. production-ready

Over the past month or so we have heard a number of rumors that the Verizon iPhone 5 will not make its usual appearance at WWDC. However, there is now reason to believe that we could have either an iPhone 4S or 5th generation model and will look a lot like the current iPod Touch. There have been a few sightings of such a phone, but we thought iPhone design prototypes vs. production-ready needs to be explained, as it is very easy to confuse the both.

We already know that when Apple eventually releases the new iPhone 5 it will come with a radically new design, and it does not take long for people to see a prototype and believe that this is the real thing. This is a mistake that we have been guilty of in the past, but you only have to look at the auto industry to know that they always show off prototypes at auto shows, only to make a few design tweaks here and there to make it production-ready.

We cannot count how many times we have seen a newly designed iPhone appear on the Internet, only for us to think – wow this could be the next iPhone. The only way we will know for certain if it is the real deal or not, is if Apple officially announce it – or an engineer foolishly leaves it in a bar somewhere.

Over the next few weeks and months we can expect to see a number of prototypes/concepts appearing on a number of tech websites – including this one – but just remember that they might not look anything like the final production model. Apple could choose to go for a new design like the current iPod Touch, or raise the bar yet again with a number of enhancements, such as a 12.6-megapixel camera and 1080p video.

Whatever Apple decides to do, they will do so in their own good time, and remember that if you see what looks to be the new iPhone 5 on a website, chances are it is just a prototype that just managed to see the light of day after being buried someone at Cupertino.

Do you often get confused between design prototypes and production-ready?

In light of PlayStation Network (PSN) down, would you pay?

In light of PlayStation Network (PSN) down, would you pay?

Millions of PlayStation 3 owners remain frustrated while PSN remains down. It's not just the fact that the service cannot be accessed, but the silence from Sony about the outage. This latest downtime has now entered its third day without any indication of when the service will come back online.

Owners of Microsoft's Xbox 360 have to pay a yearly subscription to play games online, and mainly don't experience the same amount of downtime that PS3 owners do. So with this in mind if Sony were to charge in the same way it may result in a more stable and secure service.

If Sony did decide to eventually to go down this road, there would be no guarantee PS3 owners wouldn't ever experience any downtime. This latest episode looks highly likely to be caused by outside groups attacking Sony, much to the detriment of gamers looking to take advantage of the long Easter break.

How do you fell about the idea of paying for a more secure PlayStation Network? Tell us what you think.

BlackBerry PlayBook vs Apple iPad 2, side-by-side confrontation

BlackBerry PlayBook vs Apple iPad 2, side-by-side confrontation

The iPad 2 has been getting most of the headlines in the tablet market since it was released, but other manufacturers have their own offerings for consumers. Research In Motion has recently released the PlayBook. A couple of days ago we showed you a video of the device in action, but today we have a more interesting video.

An article on Phones Review has a video courtesy of Mobile Burn, which shows the two devices in aside-by-side confrontation. The video which you can see below has over twelve minutes of the devices in a side-by-side battle looking at various features of the tablets.

Some of the major features are compared which include gaming; multitasking and some other simple users interface features. We are not going to tell you how they compared, you will have to watch the video for that, but one thing that really stands out is the difference in size when you see the two tablets next to each other.

The PlayBook is likely to appeal to owners of BlackBerry cell phones, as the two devices can work well together. But is it worth having if you don't already own a BlackBerry?

iPhone 6 with next-gen LTE, Apple rumors see release in 2012

iPhone 6 with next-gen LTE, Apple rumors see release in 2012

We reported to you yesterday that the next iPhone will not likely feature LTE technology whenever it comes out. Bearing this in mind will that mean the iPhone 6 have next gen LTE chipsets?

According to an article on The Cell Phone Junkie the next iPhone should definitely support current 3G technologies. It could also have HSPA+ that is currently being rolled out by carriers around the world including AT&T.

With Verizon, the company's CFO Fran Shammo recently let slip that the next iPhone will be capable to be used worldwide. The Verizon 4 and the CDMA iPad 2 currently use a Qualcomm Gobi chip the MDM6600. Verizon decided to have CDMA handset but it won't be hard to make it global.

We have already reported the iPhone 5 will look similar to the current model but will have the same A5 chip found in the iPad 2. Verizon moving to CDMA 1X-Advanced SVDO will be of interest to Apple for the next iPhone.

There is a good chance the iPhone 6 will have LTE especially if it comes in 2012, but it all depends on what Qualcomm are doing. They revealed its next generation of chipsets back in February which will provide improvements in modem performance and power consumption. Apple will be looking for what these chips can offer for its devices, and will be available around the time that Apple could start testing.

Nissan Leaf cost satisfies, wins 2011 ‘Car of the Year’

We recently told you the Nissan Leaf has found itself being undercut by the Mitsubishi 'I' when it comes to price. The car has even been hit with some technical problems, but the Nissan Leaf cost satisfies some as it wins 2011 Car of the Year.

The little Nissan was awarded the prize at the New York International Auto Show according to an article at Mashable by Charlie White. It beat off the other finalists the Audi A8 and the BMW 5 series, making the Leaf the first electric car to win the award.

The jurors sang the Leaf's praises and liked its zero emissions, and that it "feels just like a normal car, only quieter." They also said the Leaf deserved the win "because of its Carwings system that leverages crowdsourcing to enhance its fuel economy."

The Chevy Volt despite costing $8,200 more than the Nissan Leaf still managed to win Green Car of the Year award at the same New York show. Whereas the Chevy Volt also drives like a normal car, but when its batteries are spent the gas engine takes over allowing you to drive as many miles as normal vehicles.

What do you think of the Nissan Leaf?

Windows 8 download with controller-less gaming

Windows 8 download with controller-less gaming

Since Microsoft released the Kinect for the Xbox 360 it has proved a major success. Back in January Microsoft's Steve Ballmer hinted that the Kinect could indeed eventually have Windows support. There are signs that Windows 8 could support controller-less gaming.

Oliver Haslam of Redmond Pie is reporting that the current Milestone version of Windows 8 has a Sensor Control Panel. It also makes reference to an option called 'Detect Human Presence'. Add to this some leaked slides which show software recognizing people and things start to make more sense.

Back in June of last year the company showcased plans for a Windows PC to recognize a user's face when sitting down, and then its actions depended on which user was sitting in front of it. Logging in based on your face was a new thing at the time, but that's what people now do with their Kinect.

The problem will be getting the software working with all hardware, and not just the something as technical as the Kinect with its two cameras. If Microsoft can crack the technology it could prove a massive shot in the arm for the company.

Would you like to see the technology come to PCs?

PS3′s Multiplayer-Only Games When Playstation Network (PSN) Down

PS3′s Multiplayer-Only Games When Playstation Network (PSN) Down

The PlayStation Network is said to have over 70 million users around the world, and with millions of them logging on, and being met with a message that points to the PSN being down, this will create some ill feeling.

It's true you can play games offline, and the fact that the PlayStation Network is down will not affect many gamers, but it certainly causes problems for the PS3's "Multiplayer-Only" games. These include temporarily unplayable games like SOCOM: Confrontation, Warhawk, Free Realms, and more. Some people just want to share trophies or check messages, which is also not possible during the PSN outage. You can get the latest update from Sony via the PlayStation Blog that states that the downtime is due to hackers, or exactly an "external intrusion". How does that make you feel PS3 users?

The BBC also reports in detail about this prolonged PlayStation Network outage, and explain while it's down, you will not be able to stream films from LoveFilm, another problem for Sony, which may see problems continue if users lose faith in the service.

PS3 users do not pay to access the PSN, not like the Xbox 360, but we wonder how many PS3 owners would pay money to help Sony to provide better security, if that is at all possible?

So to all those wanting to play games this Easter and being met with comments like "get a life" or "play offline", remember its not that simple for some people, and PSN is tied into many of Sony's services that do not work during outage.

iPad 2 jailbreak, delay and why for 4.3.2

iPad 2 jailbreak, delay and why for 4.3.2

The news broke at the start of this week that the Apple iPad running iOS 4.3.2 had been jailbroken, but this was not the iPad 2 jailbreak that some people had been waiting for, and instead worked for the iPhone 4, first generation iPad, and other devices.

So, at the time of writing the iPad 2 is apparently still immune to jailbreak with some people claiming it's the best-locked device that Apple has produced to date. The iPad 2 is still a sought-after item, and stock levels have been low, as reported by users complaints.

Getting a nice shiny new iPad 2 is one thing, but jailbreaking the device is another and not an option for thousands of people, even if they could they wouldn’t want to. There are many benefits to using external applications like Cydia, but some users do not want to take the risk, although those that jailbreak find it hard to see the risk at all.

We thought we would run a poll for those that want to jailbreak iPad 2 with 4.3.2, let us know if this is something you want in the poll below. Also feel free to comment on the reasons why you want it, and why you think it's taking longer for iPad 2.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Highest gas prices ever, dubious distinction

Highest gas prices ever, dubious distinction

This year has seen some of the highest gas prices ever, and the cost of auto travel has been on the mind of those that watch their monthly budget closely. We've seen iOS apps that help with getting better prices for gas, which included the GasBuddy app and GasBook, but it's clear that consumers need a solution soon.

Some people feel that we need to get going already with Fuel Cell technology, although a wait is expected, with 2015 being named as the year for Fuel Cell vehicles. Do you feel this is too late?

Today we hear from CNN, with a story about the highest gas prices being found in Florida. It's a known fact that prices are rising nationwide, but one station has earned the title of "highest priced gas retailer in the nation".

Suncoast Energys priced regular gasoline at $5.69 a gallon this week, and this is compared to Orlando's, the city they're based in, average gas price of $3.78 a gallon. The station is not designed for the super rich, although it's priced that way, but is situated in a place where many tourists go after returning rental cars. This means that the inflated price catches a lot of tourists out, and it's too late by the time they figure out the prices are ridiculous.

Authorities in Orlando have started to make changes to stop gas stations affecting tourists in this way, which includes signs having to be posted that clearly show the price from the street. May 12 is the date gas stations have to comply with the new rule, you can read more about this on CNN.

When do you think rising gas prices will stop?
