Rumor: BlackBerry 6.1 is now BlackBerry 7, will debut at next week Posted: BlackBerry 7: it's the operating system that's supposed to combine the best aspects of BlackBerry 6 and the PlayBook's QNX-based OS and form the one OS that'll power all of RIM's smartphones and tablets. According to the folks at CrackBerry, we'll be seeing BB 7 as soon as BlackBerry World next month, but the version that will debut at the event is different than the one that we've been hearing about for months. The site has heard from "numerous sources" that BlackBerry 6.1, the OS that'll... |
HTC Surround's NoDo update enters Scheduling phase, due out soon Posted: Just a little over a week ago, the Samsung Focus and the LG Quantum finally received their update to NoDo, leaving HTC's Surround as the only Windows Phone 7 device in the U.S. without the March update. Surround owners shouldn't throw up an eBay listing for their beloved handset just yet, though, as Microsoft just announced that the device has entered the "Scheduling" phase of the NoDo update. There's no word on exactly when the Surround's NoDo roll out process will begin, but Microsoft's... |
T-Mobile: G2x doesn't have quad-band HSPA+, won't work with AT&T 3G Posted: Shortly after the T-Mobile G2x was announced, one eagle-eyed user was looking over the device's list of specs on T-Mo's site and read that it sported compatibility with AT&T's 850/1900MHz 3G network, leading many to speculate that the G2x could then be unlocked and be used on ATT 3G. Fast forward to today and T-Mobile has finally officially commented on the matter, and the news is kind of a bummer. T-Mo said that the G2x is actually a dual-band HSPA+ device, not quad-band, meaning that while... |
Is app store really all that generic? Posted: For a company, just selling the product isn’t enough. Designing the product isn’t enough. It’s a combination of the two, and then the way that the product is marketed, that ultimately determines whether or not it will fail or succeed in the market. A lot of these companies spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars on determining which products will make it in a particular market before they launch. And, many companies work endlessly to try and make their... |
Verizon makes Unleashed pre-paid plans and pricing official Posted: Interested in signing up for Verizon's Unleashed prepaid service that we first learned about earlier this month? You may want to mosey on over this page on Verizon's website, where they've finally made the Unleashed plans and pricing official. The plan prices match up with what we saw in the previous leak, meaning that $50 will get you unlimited talk, text, and mobile web for one month. If you'd prefer to pay for your cellular access on a day-to-day basis, you've got two different options: 99... |
T-Mobile G2x vs. Apple iPhone 4 Dogfight Pt. 1 Posted: Aaron does a dogfight between that could be considered as two of the hottest devices on the market at the moment. The T-Mobile G2x offers a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, 4-inch WVGA display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, front-facing camera, and a near-stock build of Android 2.2. The Apple iPhone 4 sports a 3.5-inch Retina display, 5-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and more. They're both awesome devices, but only one can win the... |
Verizon's 4G LTE network experiencing some problems Posted: As I'm sure many of you HTC ThunderBolt owners out there have noticed by now, Verizon's been having some LTE network problems since late last night. Big Red confirmed the issues on its Twitter account earlier this morning, as you can see above, explaining that they're "working to resolve the problem quickly." Sadly, there's been no word on when the 4G juices will begin flowing once again. Unfortunately for everyone with access to Verizon's LTE network, this outage seems to be... |
Apple responds to iOS location tracking situation with official Q&A Posted: Last week, we told you about iPhones and 3G iPads running iOS 4 were quietly tracking the locations of their users and storing all of that data in an easily accessible file stored, unencrypted, on both the device and the computer used to back up the iProduct. This morning Apple finally responded to the situation, claiming simply that they're "not tracking the location of your iPhone." So what exactly is all of this? Apple says that your iPhone is simply "maintaining a database of Wi-Fi hotspots... |
White iPhone 4 finally launching tomorrow, April 28th Posted: It's certainly been a long time coming , but the white iPhone 4 is finally almost here. Apple just announced that the frosty white handset will be coming tomorrow, April 28th, in both Verizon and AT&T flavors. Even though it's been nearly a year since the device was actually introduced, though, don't expect any sort of reduction in price; the 16GB model will still be cost $199.99, while the 32GB version will set you back $299.99. You can check out the full press release from Apple... |
HTC DROID Incredible 2 Unboxing Posted: Aaron unboxes the HTC DROID Incredible 2 , the successor to one of Verizon's most popular Android handsets. While it bears some similarities to the original device with a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 8-megapixel camera, and Android 2.2, it adds a 4-inch Super LCD, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, global roaming capabilities, and a new version of HTC's Sense UI. Can it compete with the new 4G LTE devices that are on the way? |
Acer ICONIA SMART and its 4.8-inch display sneak through the FCC with AT&T 3G compatibility Posted: Remember the Acer ICONIA SMART, the 4.8-inch mini-tablet/giganto-phone that was made official last February? We haven't heard much about the device since then, but it was recently spotted hanging out in the FCC and getting its certification on. Although no carriers for the ICONIA SMART have been announced just yet, the fact that it's packing compatibility with the 850, 1900, and 2100MHz bands suggests that it may one day land on AT&T. In case you need a refresher on exactly what... |
