Sprint's HTC Kingdom press image and specs leak out Posted: Remember the HTC Kingdom? Last week we saw a single blurry photo of the device leak out, which brought with it a ton of questions and very few answers. Thankfully, some more details about the Kingdom emerged today which give us a much better idea of what the handset is all about. As you can see in the image up above, the Kingdom is destined to arrive on Sprint's shelves, although exactly when that'll happen is still unknown. When it does, though, the device's ROM has revealed that it'll pack a... |
Motorola DROID X now scheduled to receive Gingerbread on May 13th? Posted: Motorola DROID X owners have already been treated to a few different leaked builds of Gingerbread, but there's still no concrete date that we can expect the official version to land on. We've heard a few rumored release dates in the past, and today the folks at Droid-Life have added another to the list: May 13th. As usual, this date should be taken with your usual helping of salt, as it's possible that Verizon could reject Moto's update or some other unforeseen circumstance could... |
HTC Bliss is an Android phone for Verizon that's targeted at women? Posted: HTC has launched a number of Android phones in the past that came in a wide range of sizes and form factors, but today a report has emerged claiming that the Taiwanese firm is currently prepping a new, rather unique smartphone. According to the folks at This is my next, HTC is hard at work on an Android smartphone for Verizon that's directly targeted at women and is even testing the device with focus groups consisting of women in their 20s and 30s. The phone is allegedly codenamed Bliss and is... |
Does a lack of Flash support in BlackBerry 7 make sense? Posted: The more people talk about Research In Motion’s progression into the future, the more it feels like the company continues to take one step forward and two steps backwards. We watch as the company launches their first tablet device, the BlackBerry PlayBook , which features some of the most fluid user interface elements we’ve seen on a tablet (so far), but it’s missing some pretty important applications. And more recently we watched as the company officially announced... |
Poll: Will you consider buying the BlackBerry Bold 9900? Posted: While most would consider BlackBerry World to be quieter than other trade shows (think CES, CTIA, etc.), the event wasn't without surprises. Amongst the PlayBook news, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 series was announced, and for the BlackBerry aficionado, it's quite the device, with a 1.2 GHz processor, 2.8-inch touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, and BlackBerry 7. While carrier partnerships and pricing haven't been announced yet,... |
Apple rolls out iOS 4.3.3, 4.2.8 to address location tracking issue Posted: Boy, Apple's churning out iOS updates at a pretty good pace, aren't they? Less than a month after releasing iOS 4.3.2, Apple has now made iOS 4.3.3 available to John Q. Public, as well as iOS 4.2.8 for you CDMA iPhone folk. The latest update addresses the iOS location tracking issue by reducing the size of the database stored on your device, no longer backing up that cache to iTunes, and deleting it entirely when a user turns off Location Services. It's also said that the update improves... |
Is HP focusing on webOS for tablets and computers over handsets? Posted: Since the Palm buyout went down, we have heard very little from HP about webOS, specifically about webOS handsets. The floating rumor towards the end of 2010 was that we would see one webOS device every two months throughout the year. We're now entering the fifth month of 2011 and the second webOS device is now eleven days out, well behind the expected pace – implying the rumor was ever true. Unfortunately, this phone that we get to see in eleven days isn't quite the handset we... |
Samsung holding an event on May 24th in New York City Posted: AT&T and Samsung will be making a " special announcement " in New York City tomorrow, May 5th, but that's not the only event that Sammy is planning to hold this month. Samsung just sent out invites for another press event on Tuesday, May 24th, although this time there's no mention of a carrier or some other company that will be co-hosting the gathering. So what does Samsung have up its sleeve? Since this event doesn't have any carrier attached to it, it's entirely possible that we'll... |
No new iPhone in June or July, AT&T rep claims Posted: There have already been several reports claiming that the iPhone 5 will be a no-show at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, debuting instead in September, and today we've got another to add to the pile. According to an AT&T representative speaking with a MacRumors reader, Apple has officially told Ma Bell that there will be no new iPhone in June/July, but that a new version will be coming "in the future." The full statement from the rep: "Apple has informed us that... |
HP Veer 4G officially landing on AT&T on May 15th for $99.99 Posted: We've been hearing reports that the HP Veer was "just around the corner," and now we know exactly when we'll finally be able to get our paws on the tiny webOS smartphone. AT&T just announced that they'll begin offering the HP Veer 4G will be launching on Sunday, May 15th, for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Confirming a previous leak, the Veer will be available in both black and white from AT&T and will feature a 2.6-inch 400x320 display, 800MHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of... |
Launch dates for the DROID X2, Revolution, Trophy, and Xperia PLAY revealed? Posted: In the market for a new smartphone on Verizon? If a recent batch of rumored release dates posted by the folks at Droid-Life are legit, you're going to have quite a few new devices to choose from in the next few weeks. According to the site's "friends at Verizon," we can expect the DROID X2 (or X^2, depending on who you ask), the LG Revolution , and the HTC Trophy to all land on May 12th, while the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY could be dropping a couple of weeks later on May 26th. ... |
Are the carriers in the wrong for blocking access to tethering apps? Posted: Android’s impossibly fast adoption since its debut isn’t due to just a single feature or element. It’s the concoction that Google created in their popular mobile operating system that has people clamoring to get their hands on it. Consumers and manufacturers have chosen Android and made it one of the most popular platforms available, with no signs of it slowing down any time soon. Not surprising, Android’s openness is one of those features that people enjoy.... |
