T-Mobile planning to change up some of its prepaid plans on May 22nd Posted: If you happen to be on one of T-Mobile's unlimited talk and text prepaid offerings, Magenta's planning to give you a nice surprise on Sunday, May 22nd. Right now, T-Mo currently offers an unlimited talk and text prepaid plan with 100MB of data for $50 per month or, for $20 more per month, you can up your data allotment to 2GB. Beginning on the 22nd, though, those plans will be getting a bump in the data department. Users on the $50 plan will still be given 100MB of data, but that 100MB will be... |
Why I don't want the BlackBerry Bold 9900 Posted: The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is finally real. There was plenty of speculation out there, about whether or not the next generation BlackBerry device would be anything to get excited over, and then RIM took some time out of their busy schedule to announce the latest version of their tried-and-true design, the Bold 9900. The handset doesn’t break any ground in the design department, nor does it look any different (generally speaking) than pretty much every other BlackBerry device that... |
AT&T discusses its future plans for Android, Windows Phone 7 Posted: AT&T has said in the past that it's committing to Android in a big way this year, with plans to release 12 devices powered by Google's OS before 2011 is up. Today AT&T executive Jeff Bradley touched a little on what kinds of Android phones that his carrier has in the pipeline. First up is a slider from Pantech that's described as a device that "looks a little like a [Casio] G-Shock" and is "more durable than a classic side-slider." Following that handset will be a "nice, large-screen... |
Why I want the BlackBerry Bold 9900 Posted: Out of all of the BlackBerry fans in the world – there are still quite a few, believe it or not – many of my friends, family and colleagues believed I would likely be the last to ever turn my back on RIM. It was hard for me to jump ship and get in bed with another platform, but after growing bored with BlackBerry after BlackBerry, I had to do it. Lately I've been quick to rant about their shortcomings or how they've turned this once CrackBerry addict into a proponent for the... |
Samsung Infuse 4G launching on AT&T on May 15th for $199.99 Posted: When the Samsung Infuse 4G was announced way back at CES, we learned that it would feature a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.2GHz processor, and AT&T 4G connectivity. What we didn't find out, though, is exactly when the superphone would actually launch. The Infuse 4G has teased us by appearing both in the FCC and a Walmart ad, but today AT&T and Samsung finally came clean about when we can get our paws on the device. The Samsung Infuse 4G will be available from AT&T on Sunday, May 15th... |
Dell Venue Pro makes its way to AT&T Posted: The Dell Venue Pro has been available on T-Mobile ever since December of last year, but if you'd prefer to get your portrait QWERTY Windows Phone 7 action on using AT&T's airwaves, today you can do just that. Dell's website has revealed that the Venue Pro is now available for AT&T in three different flavors: an 8GB model that costs $99.99 with a two-year contract, a 16GB version that'll set you back $149.99 with contract, or a capacious 32GB model that costs $199.99 with a two-year agreement.... |
Sony Ericsson pulls the cover off of the new Xperia Mini and Mini Pro Posted: In the market for a tiny smartphone like the HP Veer 4G, but you'd prefer your device to run Android? Sony Ericsson may have a couple devices worth your time. The company just announced new versions of its Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro smartphones, both of which will come preloaded with Android 2.3 beneath SE's own skin. Other specs for the handsets include 1GHz Snapdragon processors, 3-inch 320x480 Reality Display touchscreens, 5-megapixel cameras with LED flash and HD video capture, and 2GB... |
Should Verizon be targeting specific genders with devices? Posted: One of the great things about smartphones is that they aren’t gender specific. While a device may look designed specifically for one particular gender more so than another, they are generally created to be purchased by anyone. That probably has more to do with the fact that the manufacturer wants everyone to buy it, and that’s about as straight forward as it gets. It makes the most sense, too. But, we’ve seen in the past as carriers suggest that some phones are meant... |
iOS 5 to feature the ability to install updates over the air? Posted: One of the biggest changes that most everyone is expecting to see in iOS 5 is an all-new notifications system, which I'm sure most would agree is sorely needed. There may be another change in the works for iOS 5, though, that could be just as big for the platform. According to "multiple sources" speaking with 9 to 5 Mac, iOS 5 will introduce the ability for users to install OS updates over the air rather than forcing them to plug their device into a computer and update that way. It's being... |
Motorola XPRT, Titanium coming to Sprint with portrait QWERTY keyboards in tow Posted: Good news, Sprint users! Your Android smartphone selection just grew by two thanks to a couple of new handsets from Motorola. First up we've got the Motorola XPRT, which looks more than a little similar to Verizon's DROID Pro. Launching on June 5th for $129.99 with a two-year contract, the XPRT features a 3.1-inch 480x320 display, 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 2GB microSD card preinstalled, 1860mAh battery, world phone capabilities, mobile hotspot with support for up... |
Who will be the one to knock Android off its pedestal? Posted: The first quarter of 2011 made it the second quarter in a row that Android was the top mobile platform in the world. Rising from one phone on a single carrier in 2008 to hundreds of devices on carriers all around the world, Android has spread like a wildfire around the globe. Currently residing atop the global market share, gobbling up 35 percent (up 2.1 percent from last quarter), Android doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon, and they seem to be leaving the competition in... |
HTC Sensation 4G passes through the FCC on its way to T-Mobile Posted: Good news for those of you eagerly anticipating the arrival of the HTC Sensation 4G : the device formerly known as Pyramid just passed through the FCC. The Sensation 4G, or the PG58100 as the FCC calls it, was given the A-OK for use in the U.S. on T-Mobile's 1700MHz band. The Sensation 4G's FCC approval doesn't really give us any indication as to exactly when it'll arrive, but we've seen some evidence suggest that it could arrive as soon as June 8th. T-Mobile's only said that the... |
