Sorted – Stay Organizez…iPhone App Review

Posted: 30 Mar 2011 01:00 PM PDT

iPhone App Review

If you are looking for a simple, polished, fun-to-use task/organization app, Sorted might be the app for you. When you start it up you are immediately immersed with a slick UI and simple controls. You can have multiple pages of tasks to help keep everything organized. You can then scroll through your different pages of tasks to help you easily get to the one you want to see. After tapping the one you want, you then have the list of all of your tasks in that page right in front of you. You can swipe a task to the right to "complete" it, and it is then erased from the list and archived in the "completed" tab. You can prioritize your tasks, as well as organize them by "date due". All of these nice features add up to a nice task/organizing experience. I have a video review below too. Slimothy

eMailGanizer Keeps Email Conversations Connected on iPhone

Posted: 30 Mar 2011 11:00 AM PDT

Santa Cruz, California – eMailGanizer, the intelligent email reader for iPhone that helps users to quickly process their emails, now offers email threading to keep entire conversations connected. eMailGanizer’s new Email Threading feature uses a conversation view similar to the iPhone’s text messaging app to connect all messages within a thread, even across multiple folders. Another key improvement to eMailGanizer is the ability to move several emails into the same folder at once from the QuickFile tab.

With eMailGanizer’s new Email Threading, the quoted text at the bottom of an email is replaced by a “Message History” section. This section shows each prior message from the discussion in an easy-to-read, conversation-style layout. Tapping on any of these messages navigates directly to the referenced email. The hidden text from each email can be revealed by simply tapping a button on the “Message History” bar.

eMailGanizer makes filing an entire conversation at the same time very simple. From any message in the conversation, a tap on the ‘Thread’ button will present the email-thread in its entirety. From that screen, a tap on the ‘Organize’ button will cause eMailGanizer to automatically generate recommended folders to file the entire Email Thread.

A major change to the eMailGanizer’s QuickFile feature enables users to file or delete several emails into the same folder at the same time. Users can place check marks in front of all incoming emails that should be grouped together. All of the checked emails can then be quickly filed into a single folder or deleted.

About eMailGanizer:
iPhone users, like everybody else that receives a large number of emails, must figure out an approach to managing the sheer volume of messages they view on their phones. Some iPhone users take the time to manually file their emails into dozens of folders. Other users store all of their emails in one giant inbox, making it difficult to find emails when they are needed. Both approaches are inefficient and drain productivity.

eMailGanizer, an intelligent email reader for the iPhone, simplifies the process of managing email by intuitively presenting folder recommendations in order of relevance to the current email. Users can now stay organized quickly and easily by filing emails with a couple of taps.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.2 or later
* 6.0 MB

Pricing and Availability:
eMailGanizer 1.2 is available in both an ‘ad-supported’ version and a ‘pro’ version, without advertisements. eMailGanizer Pro also includes bonus features such as larger email previews and the ability to view more folders at one time. It is still available in the App Store at its introductory price of $4.99 (USD).

Go Go Mongo! for iOS – Fun, Educational Game for Children Ages 2 and Up

Posted: 30 Mar 2011 09:00 AM PDT

San Francisco, California – QwikMind today is pleased to introduce Go Go Mongo! 1.0 for iOS, their new educational game for kids ages 2+. Featuring Mongo, the cute and cuddly cartoon character that loves to eat, players tilt the iOS device to move Mongo so he can catch food falling from the sky. Players will learn the names of many different foods, improve their motor skills by controlling Mongo’s position, and develop short-term memory by catching only selected foods at each of 40 levels. Mongo’s silly animations and zany sound effects will keep children entertained for hours. Go Go Mongo! is ideal for those long car rides, and while waiting at the doctor’s office. The game was chosen by Apple as “New and Noteworthy,” and quickly appeared in the list of Top 50 Educational Games.

Watching children enthusiastically playing Go Go Mongo! for hours on end, it becomes clear that when a game is well designed, fun and learning are complementary. They occur simultaneously and on multiple levels. Mongo is cute and funny, but he is also expressive. According to the situation, he displays surprise, confusion, satisfaction, discomfort, and unbounded joy. Animated stars emanate from his body as he consumes the foods he loves. He turns purple and doubles over when he eats something that disagrees with him. The game is highly interactive, capturing the manual dexterity, emotional connection, and intellectual understanding of the young child.

There are 40 levels of play that take place over three different environments: a sunny meadow, a snowy forest, and a windy seashore. At the start of each level, the child narrator announces which foods the player must try to have Mongo catch. As he speaks the name of each food, the cartoon representation of that food is displayed. The 40 levels are composed of 10 sections. In each section three new foods are introduced individually over three levels, and then all three are used in the fourth level. Foods appearing in the game include: apple, banana, orange, grape, cherry, pineapple, pear, strawberry, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, mango, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, corn, lettuce, pea, cucumber, mushroom, tomato, green pepper, onion, potato, cheese, ice cream cone (twice), milk, cake, and cookie.

With the goal of the level set (e.g. catch the cookies), the player tilts the iOS device to have Mongo run right or left to catch the food falling from the sky. At higher levels, play becomes more challenging. Players must catch three different foods (e.g. apples, bananas, and oranges), and/or must avoid catching any other food. Levels end when Mongo catches the right food(s) five times (Continue), or the wrong food(s) three times (Try Again). The game is played in landscape mode, and QwikMind recommends that 2 to 4-year-olds play the game on an iPhone or iPod touch, as the iPad is a bit too heavy for them to hold and manipulate for long periods.

Music and sound effects are synced to the action, and contribute an added dimension to the colorful, 2D animations (these have been created by Michael McGee who has also worked on the original Mario Brothers theme, as well as children’s cartoon shows such as Inspector Gadget and Pee Wee’s Playhouse). Post-modern in style, both the simple character Mongo as well as the various foods are all cutouts, with scissor-cut white borders acknowledging their constructed status. All the layered environments, which are backgrounds to the action, are rendered more realistically with black outlines, no borders, and multi-color shading. A great deal of thought has gone in to this very simple game, perhaps offering some explanation as to why both very young children as well as adults lose themselves in its gameplay.
