WWDC 2011 Ticket Up For Grabs On eBay

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 08:03 AM PDT

So you are one of the iOS faithful and desperate to attend Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco on the 6th of June, but all tickets have been sold, so what do you do? Why you turn to eBay of course as long as you are prepared to pay way over the odds.

According to an article over on 9to5 Mac and by way of TUAW, although WWDC 2011 tickets sold out in a matter of hours there’s still a chance you could attend the event, as there’s an un-activated ticket for WWDC 2011 being auctioned on eBay.

However, that precious little ticket will cost you way above the original price of $1600 as currently the bid is sitting at a wallet creaking 2550 bucks with 9 days and 11 hours remaining for bids. Thus far the ticket has received 14 bids, so if you are of a mind to grab the ticket you’ll be digging real deep into your coffers.

Personally I wouldn’t pay that much over to odds for anything, even if there was an iPhone 5 attached to the ticket, but then there are those that simply must attend such an event and will part with a small fortune to do so, would you?

iPhone 5 At WWDC 2011: Some Say No Others Say Yes

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 07:42 AM PDT

So the big question about this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco is will Apple unveil what has become known as the iPhone 5? Something that is being rumoured as not going to happen and the event will be about iOS and Mac OS X Lion.

Much of this speculation I believe revolves around an article posted by The Loop where Jim Dalrymple claims Apple wont unveil new hardware during the event due to Phil Schiller saying Apple will unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS.

However as far as I am aware, Schiller didn't actually say Apple wasn’t going to unveil any new hardware did he?

According to an article over on Computer World, Gartner Research analyst Michael Guttenberg has said… “People have gotten a little too used to Apple doing certain things at a certain time of the year. There’s nothing that says Apple has to make journalists’ or analysts’ lives easier by keeping to a pattern. Sometimes they don’t.”

Then again Technology Business Research analyst Ezra Gottheil says that supply chain issues that have resulted in the Japan disaster may have caused Apple to delay the iPhone 5 and iOS 5 saying… “The Japan story changes things. “There’s a possibility that we will see some delay in availability of the iPhone 5.”

On the other hand, Gleacher & Co analyst Brian Marshall apparently says… “Apple will still launch the next iPhone in June or July.”

The bug bare with the iPhone 5 launch is whether Apple would unveil the iPhone 5 without iOS 5, but why not? Does a new iPhone require a new iOS every time? Could Apple now release the iPhone 5 with iOS 5 following later?

Whatever the case or argument, the only people that can actually confirm whether the iPhone 5 will be unveiled at WWDC 2011 is of course Apple, and you know full well they aren’t about to become loose-lipped.

One analyst says this; another says that, one says no another says yes. But in the end even analysts can be wrong, so I see it like this, there’s always a chance that Apple will stick with what they have done for the last three years and unveil the next iPhone, or they could break with that tradition and not unveil it…we’ll just have to wait and see.

WWDC 2011 A Sell Out Already

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 06:50 AM PDT

Well folk’s looks like the iOS faithful are extremely eager to attend Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco on the 6th of June, and if you want to attend it appears you are now completely out of luck.

According to an article over on Mashable and by way of TUAW, the Apple Developer site is displaying that all tickets for this years WWDC event have now sold out, that less than 24 hours after Apple made the dates announcement.

Apparently tickets for WWDC 2010 didn't sell out until eight days, so it shows that here’s a great deal more interest in the event this year, perhaps those attending are still of the assumption Apple will unveil the iPhone 5, something that has been rumoured not to be happening at the event.

As far as we know, Apple will concentrate on iOS and Mac OS X Lion during WWDC 2011, but there’s always a chance no matter how slim, Apple could come up with a surprise or two, or maybe not.

Are you hoping that Apple will still unveil the next generation iPhone and perhaps iOS 5 at their developer conference?

Nokia Battles Apple with New ITC Complaint

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 05:04 AM PDT

Nokia complained to the International Trade Commission alleging Apple infringed on their patents, a complaint that was rejected last Friday by the ITC saying Apple was clear of any wrong doing, but Nokia isn't satisfied with losing it would seem.

According to an article over on 9to5 Mac, Nokia has filed a new complaint with the ITC saying Apple infringes on a further seven Nokia patents and includes practically all Nokia gear such as smartphones, tablets, computers and portable music players.

Apparently according to Thomson Reuters One, the VP of Intellectual property for Nokia, Paul Melin said… “Our latest ITC filing means we now have 46 Nokia patents in suit against Apple, many filed more than 10 years before Apple made its first iPhone. Nokia is a leading innovator in technologies needed to build great mobile products and Apple must stop building its products using Nokia’s proprietary innovation.”

It seems somewhat funny that Nokia only now are complaining that Apple infringes their patents, surely the ideal time to have filed the complaints was when Apple first delivered the iconic iPhone and not years after.

Could this just be a case of Nokia throwing their toys out of the pram because they can’t handle losing? Whatever, no doubt this Nokia battle with Apple will continue for some time yet. Isn’t it about time the big boys actually took an adult approach and come to a mutual agreement?
