New De Bethune leather pocket watch case for iPhone

Posted: 30 Mar 2011 03:46 AM PDT

New De Bethune leather pocket watch case for iPhone

If you're looking to get yourself a new stylish case for your iPhone then we have some exciting news for you. We previously brought you news of a new case that was multi-functional, as it acts as a cardholder as well as protecting your smartphone device, called the CandyShell card case.

Now we have news of a new multi-functional vintage looking leather case that also has a pocket watch embedded in the back of it. The leather is seemingly a crocodile skin type which looks fairly protective but is in fact quite the opposite.

The watch itself is a De Bethune DB1024 movement that sits centrally in the back of the soft brown leather case. The idea of the case, although useful, seems very impractical as it offers a clock function, when iPhones already have clock.

Not only that, it appears that the clock face would not last very long if past iPhone cases are anything to go buy with the amount of scratches they get. Let's hope if you get this case you're not planning on dropping your iPhone.

Check out more details about the case in the article at Crunch Gear. What do you think of this case? Will you be getting one for your iPhone? Let us know in the comments below.

Flick Golf iPhone Game Receives Update: New Mode / New Courses

We have a bit of a treat now for those of you that have previously downloaded the Flick Golf application onto your iOS device, as the popular iPhone and iPod Touch game has just received an update. Not only has the update brought a brand new mode, but it also brings a few new courses.

According to an article by Tyler Tschida over at appadvice.com, the update has added a brand new game mode called Quickshot Pro, which is said to be extremely challenging. Just like the original Quickshot, the new Quickshot Pro mode requires players to score as many points as they can in a limited time.

The challenging part of the new mode is the fact that players are given a higher point level to achieve, a shorter length of time to do it in and some awful weather conditions. Besides adding a new mode, the update has also provided the Flick Golf game with five brand new courses.

Three of the 5 new maps can be played in both Quickshot and Quickshot Pro mode, while the other two are played in the game's World Tour mode. The update also includes 15 new achievements, platinum trophies and Game Center integration for those that are running iOS 4.1 or later.

Verizon iPhone 5 Not Delayed

Verizon iPhone 5 Not Delayed

Contrary to what you have heard, the Verizon iPhone 5 is not delayed. You might wonder how we can say this after all of the rumors, which we have also reported on? Well put it this way, how can something be delayed when it has not even had an official release? Have you ever heard Apple say that the 5th-generation iPhone will be released this year – we don’t think so?

Now if you were to take the White iPhone 4 as an example, now that has been delayed. This is because Apple had made an official announcement that the handset was coming, only to delay through a number of manufacturing issues. The main reason why we all assume that the iPhone 5 was coming this year was because we were following a pattern – something that we were all guilty off.

So now that we have established that the Verizon/AT&T iPhone 5 is not delayed, let us have a look at the news over the past few days to see if we can get an insight into why Apple might have to launch the new smartphone later than their usual cycle.

We reported yesterday that one reason why the iPhone 5 will be released late in 2011 is because it could come with the Qualcomm LTE chip. This makes perfect sense, but not for those on other networks such as AT&T, or those in other countries who will not be able to benefit from 4G.

Apple already announced that WWDC 2011 would be all about iOS and Mac OS, which tickets have already sold out for. We all have our own theories on this, ours is that Apple knows that they might be rushing things a bit and just need to slow it up a little. Yes it is a good idea that Apple might be trying to get a few of their recent patents into the new iPhone 5, but they cannot afford to sit around too long – not when Android has a huge percentage of the mobile OS market.

When will Apple launch the iPhone 5, and will you expect something extra special?

Sprint HTC EVO 3D: Real Life Potential

Sprint HTC EVO 3D: Real Life Potential

The Sprint HTC EVO 3D has only been on the market for a week, and already it has been showing some real life potential. You can see that the design of the handset is a lot like the original EVO, but with one major difference – two cameras at the rear of the device. It is those two cameras that make it possible to film in 3D.

It is hard to imagine how one feature change can transform a device into something much better – but it does. So what are those real life potential things that we spoke of above? Well this is all down to what you can record and upload to websites or watch them on a 3D capable device, such as a laptop or TV.

How many times have you wanted to view an image or video of a property on a real estate website, only to see that it looks much different in person? Now with the use of the Sprint HTC EVO 3D realtors will be able to film the footage in 3D and offer a much better representation of what that property looks like – allowing certain features to jump out at you, as if you were really there.

Another great benefit is when there is no-way that you can make it for your child's sports day, but recording the day on the HTC EVO 3D (which will be released in the UK later this year) will make it almost as special to you. That way you will be able to sit down with your child later that day and watch as the ball looks as though it is coming right at you – now that moment is priceless.

These are just two examples of the real life potential of Sprint’s new handset, but can you think of any more?

iOS 5 New Features List: Better Voice Control Needed or Not?

We have some fresh information for those of you looking forward to the next major version of Apple’s mobile software, iOS 5, as it has been reported that the company will be including a major new feature with regards to voice controls.

The news has surfaced from TechCrunch, as they have said that a significant portion of WWDC 2011 will be reserved for introducing a ‘much deeper voice integration’ feature within iOS 5, designed for usage on both the iPhone and iPad.

Interestingly, these new voice control features will be a include both artificial intelligence and ‘assistance’ technology and will be shown to the audience at WWDC 2011 on June 6th. Best New Tech & Gadgets: Smartphones Vs Tablets

Best New Tech & Gadgets: Smartphones Vs Tablets

Knowing what are the best new tech & gadgets is a very tough question, but we do know what two should be considered – smartphones and tablets. The former has been on the market longer than the latter, but these tablet PCs have now found the momentum that was promised to us at the beginning of last year.

The two are very similar in what they do, but they still fulfill different roles. The smartphone is used as a communication device, as well as connecting to the Internet, performing tasks and playing games as well. Most tablets will not make calls, but they do all the other things much easier for two reasons – they are better for performing those tasks mentioned above, as well as faster.

We have to point out that not all tablets are faster than smartphones, not when there are certain handsets on the market packing dual-core processors and more RAM. Going back a few months there was not a huge selection of tablets on the market, but since CES 2011 computer and cell phone makers have been relentless in announcing or releasing new devices.

There are two main contendors at the moment in the tablet market, and that is the Motorola Xoom (soon to be released in the UK) and the new iPad 2 – any guesses, which you think, will sell more units? It is the same story in the smartphone market; it is basically Android against the iPhone. The former may be winning the OS market share, but that is because they have so many more devices running on the Google mobile operating system compared to the Apple, who only has one. However, the iPhone is king of the handsets, and is now close to hitting sales of 100 million since its launch in 2007.

Do you think you would be able to choose from a smartphone or tablet, or do we now need both?

Nintendo Wii HD Release Could Still Happen, But Specs won’t Include 3D

Nintendo Wii HD Release Could Still Happen, But Specs won’t Include 3D

We have some pretty major news to bring to gaming fans now, especially if you are a Nintendo Wii owner. Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aime has just said that the next Nintendo Wii console, aka the Wii HD won’t have support for 3D visuals, unlike the recently released Nintendo 3DS handheld.

Reggie made his comments in a recent interview with CNN, which you can check out again here, as reported from Joystiq. Below is the quote that you need to pay attention to.

“Glasses-free is a big deal. We’ve not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we’ve learned on 3D, likely, that won’t be it.”

It’s quite a bold statement to make, one perhaps which could have been made at this years E3 event instead. However, it’s also pretty exciting that Nintendo are even teasing about the next Nintendo home console, especially since those rumors on a Wii HD seemed to have died down dramatically.

We have mentioned that the highlight of E3 2011 could be the suprise announcement of the Xbox 720 console, but how amazing would it be if Nintendo stepped up to the plate as well and announced their next console. I’m not sure about you, but Reggie’s latest intervew has got us excited about the upcoming few months.

Firstly, what are your thoughts on the fact that the next Nintendo console is unlikely to have 3D – Is this a problem for you? Secondly, do you think we’ll see the Wii HD announced at E3 2011 or not?

Cloud Girlfriend for Facebook: Four-step Process

You have to wonder what you will be able to do on Facebook next, we have seen a number of startling things on The Social Network, but none more so than this Cloud Girlfriend. We thought we would take a look at a Four-step process for those who do not have a partner of their own.

TIME.com says that the first step is just like a dating site, as you have to define what would be your perfect girlfriend; once that is done then she will be brought to life – sounds a little like "Weird Science" but without any physical woman at the end. We would like to know what Facebook thinks of this, as it is a little like setting up a fake account – which we all know is not allowed.

The third step is to then start your interaction with your new Cloud Girlfriend and show her off to your friends online, and the final step is knowing that you can now begin the start of a long-distance relationship.

We cannot see why anyone would want to do such a thing, but maybe there are those kind of people out there who are too afraid to socialize with women in the physical form? We have to wonder if these Cloud Girlfriends will get upset if you forget to talk to her one day or do not say nice things?

What are your thoughts on this new service?

iOS 4.3.1 Untethered Jailbreak: Release Date Update – Download Likely

We have some great news for those of you who are searching for an untethered jailbreak download for iOS 4.3.1, as it has been confirmed that a developer has now submitted an exploit which proved the feat is possible, over to the iPhone Dev Team to work on a release.

The developer in question is Stefan Esser as he is the first person to come up with a working exploit to successfully jailbreak Apple’s recent iOS 4.3.1 update, while at the same time keeping the software in an untethered state – a vital ingredient for everyone looking to legally open up their device.

Below is the message he posted on his Twitter account, which confirms that the iPhone Dev Team are now in control of the exploit from now on, as reported from RedmondPie.

”The iphone-dev-team is already beta-testing the untether. So it is up to them to give you your tool of choice.”

So what does this for the common iPhone owner searching for a jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1 then? Well, simply put – it’s basically a confirmation that a download is coming soon, as we all know the iPhone Dev-Team is working on a release as we speak. We’ll let you know when it’s out. Are you waiting for this jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1, or are you already in a jailbroken state?

Modern Warfare 3: Release Date Update – Xbox 360, PS3, PC Reveal Soon?

It has been a while since we had any Modern Warfare 3 related news to bring you, but this latest bit of information should definitely interest you. We’re hearing that the game will be officially unveiled by Activision sometime next month, we’re hoping this includes a release date.

The rumors have surfaced from the PlayStation Magazine 3 publication, as they have said that mid-April will be the moment when Activision decide to unwrap the third game in the hugely successful Modern Warfare franchise.

At the moment, we don’t know anything about the game, this includes the development side of things too as we’re unsure if Infinity Ward will be handling things on their own, or if they’ll be assisted by Sledgehammer Gamers and Raven as previous rumors suggest.

VG247 make the interesting point that it was in April of last year, that Activision decided to announce Black Ops, so whether that puts more strength behind a Modern Warfare 3 reveal in April – remains to be seen. We’ll do our bit and let you know once anything else slips out.

Do think the time is right to announce the game? We think so, since everyone seems to be only talking about Battlefield 3 at the moment. A Modern Warfare 3 announcement could shift things in Activision’s favor once again – what do you think?

New Nokia Phone for 2011: E6-00 Specs, Pictures and Video

Nokia has been pretty quite as of late, especially considering the likes of Samsung, HTC, Motorola and LG have all announced new smartphones recently. However, one device which is said to be on the way this year is the Noka E6-00 and we have the first pictures and videos to show you.

Before you ask though, this handset doesn’t appear to be one which will end up being in their flagship category for 2011, instead it’s another business orientated smartphone, and looks to be a beefed up version of the Nokia E71.

This one we’ve seen comes in all white, check out the picture below which has been obtained by the guys over at NokiaTeco forums, as reported from BGR. We also have a list of specs to give you, as the E6-00 will run on Symbian and will be equipped with a VGA quality touchscreen, an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and a separate front-facing camera, we’re not sure on the quality though – probably 1.3 megapixel.

That wasn’t a typo on the display screen quality either, we’re pretty disappointed about the VGA screen too, definitely not good enough with the competition out there at the moment – time to step it up Nokia we think. Still though, if you enjoyed the E71 – you’ll probably be interested in this one, and the white makeover defnitely adds that element of style too.

There’s a semi-decent video for you to check out below. We’ll let you know once we hear further details on the E6-00, assuming you want them of course? PS. Have fun with the music below as well.

Nintendo 3DS: Headaches and Dizzy Complaints after Playing?

While it’s obviously not our intention to keep casting the Nintendo 3DS in a bad light, we are hearing that complaints are pouring in over the fact that the system’s 3D games are making users feel dizzy and are causing headaches during and after games.

This comes just a few days after we told you about a separate problem involving a crashing ‘black screen of death’ issue – you can read the full story again through the link. As for these latest health complaints by users – it doesn’t look good for Nintendo.

A report over on Max Console has detailed a list of complaints by 3DS users over on Twitter. If you check it out, you’ll see that the list is pretty lengthy as you can see in some of the examples below:

‘The 3D gave me a headache, so I hated it.”,
”Warning to everyone, if you’re already ill and have a migraine, DO NOT play the 3DS with 3D on. Urgh. ”
”Just had a go on the new Nintendo 3DS and i was very impressed! dizzy but impressed”

There is a lot more over at Max Console, so if you are thinking of getting a Nintendo 3DS, you should take a read first to get a idea of the full picture. For those of you who have already picked up a Nintendo 3DS – can you confirm that playing games for a short while results in feeling dizzy or getting a headache afterwards?

Obviously, we don’t want to raise any unnecessary panic here, but it obviously is an issue if so many users are feeling the need to complain on Twitter about it. Nintendo has already issued a statement on the matter, which you can read over at Joystiq.

How is your experience on the Nintendo 3DS so far?

Apple waiting on Verizon for iPhone 5 Release, AT&T Users Jealous?

Apple waiting on Verizon for iPhone 5 Release, AT&T Users Jealous?

We have more details on the potential huge twist in the ongoing Apple iPhone 5 saga, as the latest rumors reveal that Apple are planning to delay the release of their fifth generation iPhone, in favor of a release later on this year so that they can include a 4G LTE chip inside.

We first told you about this possibility in a previous report here, so you can read that if you need a recap on the details. What we want to discuss is the implications this potential move has on other carriers, and obviously the backlash that it could create, although Apple will see it as a positive business move.

After finally getting the iPhone on Verizon after AT&T’s exclusivity period, it seems as if they want to enjoy their new partnership with Verizon while they can by releasing a new iPhone 5 with a built in 4G LTE chip. While this is obviously great news for Verizon customers, how would it make AT&T feel? – Inadequate perhaps like Samsung?

We still don’t know if Apple are planning to bring more than one version of their iPhone 5 to market, but it does seem likely that a 4G LTE version is on the cards eventually. Providing this goes ahead, it does also mean that the rest of the world has to sit back and wait while Apple press forward with their plans for a true 4G capable handset to compete alongside the HTC Thunderbolt and the Sprint EVO 3D.

If you are currently an AT&T subscriber and have been keeping a close eye on these developments, we want to know your thoughts on the situation. How would you feel if Apple are holding back on the iPhone 5 release, just to accomodate Verizon and their 4G LTE motives?
