Apple makes Localscope App of the Week in Australia and New Zealand

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 11:00 AM PDT

Mumbai, India – Australians and New Zealanders have taken a shining to a new local navigation app called LocalScope, and they aren’t the only ones. Apple seems to agree. The app got the “App of the Week” spot in both countries, and the developers (Cynapse, based out of Mumbai) couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s the icing on the cake after months spent perfecting their creation.

LocalScope puts an intuitive twist on GPS, pulling search results together to give users a handy overview of what’s available right next door. With a few swipes and flicks, you can use Google, Bing, Foursquare, and Twitter results to find restaurants, gas stations, hotels, gyms, and everything else in your local area.

College students who have just moved to a new town are likely to get a lot of use out of LocalScope. Those first few months can be a bit disorienting. It’s nice to have a crisp and clean picture of where everything is, especially when you’re in an unfamiliar place. If you get a late night ice cream craving, and you have no idea where to get some, just whip out the app. LocalScope is now a part of Apple’s “College Bound” collection in the App Store.

LocalScope is also in the “New And Noteworthy” section of the App Store in over 40 countries and the “What’s Hot” section in 30 countries. With heartwarming comments like the following, it’s no wonder why.

“This is probably the most used app on my iPhone, nice user interface, has every bit if info needed more!”

Cynapse wants to thank LocalScope’s users and Apple for all the support they’ve gotten recently. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without it. They’re excited to keep improving upon their next generation GPS + Navigation app, and there will be many more updates to come.

Device requirements:
* Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later
* 4.3 MB

Pricing and availability:
Localscope is available for $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) exclusively on the App Store in the Navigation category. If you’re interested in reviewing Localscope we’ll gladly provide a promo code on request.

Osmos – Survival of The Biggest Mac App Review

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 09:00 AM PDT

Mac App Review

- Osmos is a beautifully elegant and simple game based around Darwinian natural selection in a survival of the fittest (in this case biggest) environment. There is only one purpose in this game, to eat other nodes and be the biggest, baddest, node on the current level. But, there is a delicate balance to be made, in order to eat other nodes, you must eject some of your mass to propel yourself toward them. This means that you must know when to use, and save, your energy. If you become too small, or are completely engulfed by a larger node, you are given the option to start the level over or randomly generate a new one. With this realistic game of give and take, you find yourself completely immersed in the world of Osmos. I give this an easy 5/5 stars, for its top-quality graphics, unique gameplay, realistic –ness, and overall feel as a game. I would recommend this to any gamer of any level, the only requirement I can see is having patience.Tswmcello

iPad App Video Summary

-Texas Hold’em game play on the iPad with Angry Heads-Up Poker by Soft-Juice. This iPad app has two player poker game play on the iPad complete with settings to change blinds, chips, and blind timer. Soft-Juice did a nice job developing real like card manipulation so users can look at their cards as if they were playing poker with real cards. The user interface is very nice but be sure to cover your cards with your hand so your opponent cannot see your cards. At the end of a hand the players must agree on the winner to keep the game real and honest. Angry Heads-Up Poker is a fantastic game for poker lovers. Watch the iPad app video below for a demonstration of this application. CM

Pilot Winds – Penguin Tries To Fly iPhone App Review

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 02:30 PM PDT

iPhone App Review

Yes, everyone’s heard of Tiny Wings by now. A new app that popped up in the AppStore a few days ago is called Pilot Winds. This app was actually started in development before Tiny Wings, but had a later release date. This has actually worked against the developers, since people are calling Pilot Winds a Tiny Wings ripoff, when it is actually the original. Putting this aside, the game features much more gameplay than Tiny Wings. The app is free for anyone to download and there is an in-app purchase to unlock a few extra gameplay modes. It comes stock with Training Mode, Bonuses, Choose Pilot and Mad Minute. If you pay the 99 cents, you can unlock Checkpoint Mode, Bonus Play, and Freeplay. In my opinion, it is superior to Tiny Wings because of its multiple gameplay modes. I urge you to check this one out. I have included a video app review that I made below.Slimothy
