| Apple Store Down: iPad 2 is Coming Posted: 02 Mar 2011 09:17 AM PST There has been a lot of anticipation and excitement surrounding the new Apple iPad 2, many of us wondering what it will actually look like and what features it will possess. Well in approximately one hour from now the wait should be over, as the Apple iPad 2 is expected to be announced at a special event today at 6pm. At present the Apple Store is down, as they are currently updating the store and are expected to be back online shortly after the announcement of the new Apple iPad 2 is made. As stated by Mashable this is one of the biggest product launches of the year. There have been rumours today that Amazon may have been privy to the specs, price and expected release date of the Apple iPad 2, see James’ earlier post here. With all the build up surrounding this new tablet, it is no wonder that rumours and speculation are going to fly around. But, all this will soon stop after the unveiling. Also, according to a number of sources it is believed that Steve Jobs may be attending the event tonight, for more information on this please see Marks’ earlier post here. |
| Apple iPad 2: More Pictures Surface Posted: 02 Mar 2011 08:30 AM PST Well folks only a couple of more hours before Apple makes their big presentation at their Apple iPad 2 event, and just in under the wire we have more images hitting the net waves purportedly of the next generation Apple iPad. According to the guys over at the Boy Genius Report, said Apple iPad 2 images have been posted to Chinese website DGtle, and show basically what we have already heard in the rumours, speaker grill, camera hole, slimmer profile etcetera.
The BGR guys say it could possibly be correct about the rumours of a white Apple iPad 2 as well when you note these pictures show a white antenna cover. However as always up until the final knockings these things remain in the realms of speculation.
Still give it a couple of hours more and we should all finally be able to stop the speculation and hopefully report on the real deal with Apple’s newest iOS tablet. |
| RIM BlackBerry PlayBook April Release Date Revealed Posted: 02 Mar 2011 07:20 AM PST Up until now the release date for the new Research In Motion tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook hasn’t been revealed; however those waiting to get their hands on the tablet device may not have all that long to wait. According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, multiple sources of the unnamed variety, so should for now be treated as speculation, have said that the first BlackBerry tablet device from the Research In Motion camp will see release in retail locations on the 10th of April. Apparently also the BlackBerry PlayBook operating system will turn gold master on the last day of March and once users boot up their BlackBerry PlayBook they will see a prompt to upgrade to the latest OS version. Of course it goes without saying that this hasn’t been confirmed yet by RIM, but if true potential PlayBook owners could have their hands on the device before too long as long as there are no launch delays of course as most tech gear seems to be having these days. Will you be rushing to pick up the BlackBerry PlayBook on the 10th of April? |
| iPhone Game Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing, Hands On Video Posted: 02 Mar 2011 06:52 AM PST For iOS gamers and Sonic the Hedgehog fans alike, we have a little hands-on video footage of Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing running on the iPhone for your viewing pleasure below, an iOS game that will apparently be hitting the App Store in spring. The Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing game hands-on video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Daily iPhone Blog and by way of the SlideToPay YouTube page and delivers just over three minutes of iPhone kart racing action. With Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing for the iPhone, gamers get to choose which character they wish to play in this fun kart racing game with character such as Sonic and Knuckles of course, and characters from such games as Super Monkey Ball, Crazy Taxi, Shenmue and other Dreamcast games. Have to say I used to be quite addicted to Sonic when it first came out on the now antiquated Megadrive console, and seeing the spiky character still around brings back fond memories of hours of gameplay. Still enough from me, all you need do now is make the jump below, mash that play button and check out the gaming action…enjoy. |
| BlackBerry PlayBook, Storm 3 Destined for T-Mobile Posted: 02 Mar 2011 06:18 AM PST The latest word doing the rounds concerns the new tablet and smartphone coming out of the Research In Motion camp, the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry Storm 3, and the latest mutterings is that both devices may end up with T-Mobile. According to an article over on Phone Arena, the guys over at TmoNews are claiming that several source of the unnamed variety there is a possibility that the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry Storm 3 will grace T-Mobile stores. Apparently BlackBerry maker RIM held several retail rep events across the US, which included T-Mobile reps, where RIM showed off the BlackBerry Storm 3 and BlackBerry PlayBook and apparently it became clear during said events that T-Mobile would gain both BlackBerry devices. The image purportedly shows a BlackBerry PlayBook being touted at one of RIM/T-mobile events, but really doesn’t mean a great deal as the RIM people could have simply been using the tablet for other reasons. Once again, as these are unnamed sources and nothing has been officially announced by either Research In Motion or T-Mobile one has to take these rumours for what they are, simply rumours at the moment, but who knows maybe T-Mobile will gain the BlackBerry PlayBook and Storm 3 in the not too distant future. |
| Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Now Major League Gaming Official Handset Posted: 02 Mar 2011 05:45 AM PST The first PlayStation phone, you know the one, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has now apparently partnered the world’s largest professional video gaming league, Major League Gaming to become their official smartphone. According to an article over on Mobile Syrup, as part of the new sponsorship the Android 2.3 Gingerbread packing Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is to be present at each of the six Major league Gaming Pro Circuit (US only dates apparently) events, and ” will feature demonstrations, game challenges and giveaways." The Head of Marketing for North America, Sony Ericsson, Peter Farmer says, "Sony Ericsson is redefining mobile gaming with Xperia™ PLAY. It's designed to give you everything you need from a fully featured smartphone and the one thing you want–the ultimate mobile gaming experience. We know that Major League Gaming's community of gamers will put that gaming experience to the ultimate test and we're looking forward to connecting with this highly engaged global community." Furthermore Sony Ericsson will also sponsor two gamers, MGL coach Andy “JT Bravo” Dudynsky, and Dave “Walshy” Walsh for the 2011 season. Any of our readers hoping to snap up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play so they can get some PlayStation gaming action on? |
| HTC Thunderbolt VZ Navigator App: Crazy But True Posted: 02 Mar 2011 05:00 AM PST Now call this madness but there is a new HTC Thunderbolt VZ Navigator app, this is crazy but true and considering the major delay in releasing this handset it seems silly to release an app that's available to download. The HTC Thunderbolt has had a lot of attention of late and we cannot point the finger at HTC or Verizon as no one knows for sure who is too blame, some sources have speculated that it is all down to poor battery life but who knows for sure. Join the HTC Thunderbolt discussion page here. A few things to point out: Why would you need VZ Navigator when the handset comes with Google Maps Navigation, and when you visit VZ Navigator official website you can search through the smartphones to see what one is compatible and the HTC Thunderbolt is not showing there yet the app is available. You can visit the Android Market now and get the VZ Navigator app, prices start at $2.99 a day, $4.99 a week or $9.99 a month. Personally we would use Google Maps, as it is free, good luck trying to get the app for the smartphone it is not out yet for purchase. The HTC Thunderbolt should be released between March 4th and 10, we will keep you posted.

| Apple iPad 2 Specs And Release Date Revealed By Amazon Listing Posted: 02 Mar 2011 04:43 AM PST Well now, you probably know Apple is expected to unveil their Apple iPad 2 at an event today, but it would appear that Amazon may have been privy to some early info on the Apple iPad 2 and have outed the specs, price and release date. According to an article over on Techtree, the guys over at Your Daily Apple happened upon an Apple iPad 2 post on the German Amazon website, which by the way has now been removed, which showed several specs for the iOS tablet along with pricing and expected release date. So here’s what was found…apparently the Apple iPad 2 will sport a 9.7-inch display, 1.2GHz processor (possible dual-core?), WiFi, 3G, camera, Bluetooth, and Thunderbolt port. As for that release date, well the rumour had it that the next generation Apple iPad would see a near immediate release, but if the Amazon listing is anything to go by, they list availability as of the 17th of March priced at 499 Euros. So there you have it, more info on the upcoming next generation iOS tablet, but one thing is for sure, everything should be confirmed later today at Apple’s iPad 2 event, the live times of which Mark posted earlier and can be found (here). |
| Android 3.0 Honeycomb Playing Nice on T-Mobile G1: Video Posted: 02 Mar 2011 04:12 AM PST The first Android smartphone of way back, you remember, the T-Mobile G1 right? Well it appears that the T-Mobile G1 can now play nice with the latest “tablet specific” Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS as evidence in the video footage below. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb running on the HTC Magic/G1 video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Ubergizmo and by way of YouTube user STRYK360, and delivers just over five minutes of seeing the new Android OS on the smartphone. Apparently the guys responsible for the Android 3.0 Honeycomb port to the T-Mobile G1 are the XDA-developers, and although the ROM works there is some handset lag and many features are not yet working such as 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, while working features include the full Honeycomb UI, Honeycomb keyboard and more. However apparently the guys are continuing to work on the ROM and will be releasing a build sometime in the not too distant future, until then head on down, hit that play button and check out the video footage…enjoy. |
